Hi, I installed XOOPS in the dir XOOPS on my domain about three weeks ago. Everything has gone incredibly smooth except for one thing. I have searched here, and found a few posts about it, but no solutions that seem to fit my issue. I also googled it and found this post (I couldn't find it through XOOPS search for some reason)
Anyway, my problem is with smtpauth mail sending.
I get this error everytime I try to sign up a new user:
Quote:
You are now registered. However, we were unable to send the activation mail to your email account due to an internal error that had occurred on our server. We are sorry for the inconvenience, please send the webmaster an email notifying him/her of the situation.

I have quadruple checked that my settings are correct on the smtpauth (i.e. host, user, pass) and it's still not working.
I really need some help here. I have been reading Welling and Thomsons "php and mysql" web development to better understand how these scripts are working, but I am nowhere near understanding it fully. I really need to get my site online before my users bail on me.
Thanks in advance,
-Chip

hi,
I am having a very similar problem. smtp works with phpbb, but with the same exact setting it doesn't work with xoops.
I have seen two other similar threads as well, and have yet to see a response that helps me.
Where did you see the debug info at? I went to preferences and turned on debug, but can't find where to check it.

Here is the links to the other similar threads.

Sounds like a host issue to me rather than Xoops, and as such I doubt there will be much we can do except wait for your hosts response.

I am having the same problem and i have the same host, however smtp works for phpbb, but not for xoops...so I know it should, but i get an error:
"You are now registered. However, we were unable to send the activation mail to your email account due to an internal error that had occurred on our server. We are sorry for the inconvenience, please send the webmaster an email notifying him/her of the situation."

It will send an email to me notify the new user has registered though.

Anyway, how can I find out whats wrong?
(I have checked my smtpauth settings numerous times)
Thanks,
-Chip

Okay,

Seems I found what was wrong. I had forgotten to copy the mail_template directory included with the language files...
Simple as that.

Hi, I am having the EXACT same problem.

I do however get notified of new users and all that...I am using a diff template..imago60 or something..anyways, I am sure I copied all the files over from the zip files that I downloaded from XOOPS themes library...
Also, i have phpbb installed on the same server and it sends out activation emails fine as well using smtpauth, so I'm guessing it has to be something is missing, in the wrong place or not configured properly (besided my mail settings, i quadruple checked at least) Is there something else I forgot that you may know about?...
I really appreciate in input.. This is delaying my XOOPS site going live.

I have searched and read and searched a read. I don't think im too dumb to do this....
I foundhttps://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=29549&forum=3 where it describes how to upload themes and templates, anycrap, i did that, and it doesnt work....
I am at a loss for words, I wanted to go live with the new site design 3 days ago, and im stuck.
you can take a look athttp://www.everythingfunny.com/xoops
i want to change colors, images, all kinds of stuff, and yeah, i know its ugly as it is, that's why i want to change it. I have tried editing like the indiviual template files, but my wysiwyg eds, show me this for most of them:

<{foreach item=block from=$xoops_lblocks}>
 <{$block.title}>
<{$block.content}>
<{/foreach}>
<{if $xoops_showcblock == 1}>
<{foreach item=block from=$xoops_ccblocks}>
 <{$block.title}>
<{$block.content}>

<{/foreach}>
<{foreach item=block from=$xoops_clblocks}>
 <{$block.title}>
<{$block.content}>

<{/foreach}>
<{foreach item=block from=$xoops_crblocks}>
 <{$block.title}>
<{$block.content}>

<{/foreach}>
<{/if}>
<{$xoops_contents}>
<{if $xoops_showrblock == 1}>
<{foreach item=block from=$xoops_rblocks}>
 <{$block.title}>
<{$block.content}>

<{/foreach}> <{/if}>
<{$xoops_footer}>
__
i mean what am i supposed to do with that?
plz help if you know what n00b crap im doing wrong...
thx..
*edit* just for example, i want to edit and change colors of the top part of my website...it look so ugly the way it is...see herehttp://www.everythingfunny.com/xoops

hi,
I run the site everythingfunny.com, I am just putting that so you might understand what I am trying to do. Instead of adding static html pages and cutting and pasting code for each movie every time i update, I have installed XOOPS at /xoops on my server, is it possible for me to use XOOPS to add the video for me? I mean embed it on a page, not just have a link to the actual video clip? I don't mind if the people download the video to thier computer, I just want to have it embeded onto a XOOPS page. Maybe thier is a module that one of you have used for this that I overlooked.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
ps..I did a search on this forum for this and didn't come up with anything.
thanks again in adance,
chip

I installed my XOOPS at /xoops on my webserver, now I want it to br at the top level. Is it possible (since I played around and made some stuff that I don't want to have to go back and redo) to move my current installation to the top level and it still work correctly?
Thanks in advace,
