I thought I would come back to this as its important.

Many hosting companies are now setting sendmail to restrict mail that is sent from the server by user 'nobody' (as pointed out the default Apache user for script execution.)

This is because mail servers get taken over by bots who use the user nobody to send vast amount of spam mail

I dont really undertand but think that this can be reset within the server on an installation by using something similar to this

ini_set('sendmail_from', 'me@domain.com);

so that sendmail adds a different user to the header

not sure if this is true or whether I am just stuck ( I have moved macmend.com to another host) with any site i create in XOOPS with my present host

I have created a members only site for a charitable organisation I belong to. I now need to add 300 members and have a couple of questions

1. Is their anyway to import a membership list with names and emails or must I do each individually?

2. with each membership created a mail goes out, does this mail contain the login and password or just a login name, (I looked at the message tpl and it does not appear to contain a password can this be altered)

wiwimod I have looked at before, but in the UK we suffer from a toilet humour and toilet obsessions that seems part of our cultural makeup. "wiwi" (weee..wee)is what many children learn as a word for urination and subsequently is not a word that anyone would use for a product unless they wanted a laugh.

The name of the product gets in the way of its use, so unless I can completely edit out its name I can't easily use this module

I am developing a site for a charitable society that has a long history and quite a few new supporters who want to know more about its background. I am already using News module as a blog.

I have looked at using a mediawiki but this is too much management and over complicated for the non-techies, I have look at Smart-FAQ which I like and some of the content modules like xcontent(which is very buggy)

Can anyone recommend a module that would allow user interaction comment and creation of articles by users and admins alike, but also act as a knowledgebase

extgallery looks like a great module, the module developers site has admin approved registration and so I can put nothing on that site whilst waiting for admin approval having registered.

In the mean time I give up

I have got xcgallery working, as a port of coppermine its good but a bit complicated, in terms of users making their own galleries or uploading pictures, so I have moved to myalbumP and wil see if that works

Its so disappointing and I know developers put in such a lot of work on modules and often are holding down jobs or college work as well.
