Dear XOOPS critiquers,

We welcome any feedback you'd care to share on our new Xoops-based site dedicated to an exploration of pop star Michael Jackson - music, history, resources - and, at the moment, the serious legal issues revolving around his arrest on child molestation charges.

AboutMichaelJackson.com uses a heavily modified version of the Videoscoop theme from Montisarts, the excellent, if elusive, WFSections module, and few other small hacks and modifications. Any views on content, readability, look and feel or other functionality would be most appreciated. We've been live for less than a week, so content is still a bit thin, but we're building fast.

Many thanks,
Bela

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you like it and that the new look works for you. We also felt that the more colorful and lively atmosphere suited the content better.

Best regards,

Hi folks,

We're changed the look of our Office Diversions XOOPS site athttp://www.officediversions.com, heavily modifying the original Montisblue theme we were using to turn it into something more like Mardi Gras Purply Nightmare. Any comments or feedback on its technicolor splendor and readability or lack thereof would be appreciated.

(Registered users can compare and contrast with the original Montisblue variant).

Cheers,

Béla

As I mentioned above, a large chunk of our OfficeDiversions.com site uses WF-Sections. This area is now live, and is a rather nice application of the module if I do say so myself:

http://officediversions.com/discover/modules/wfsection/

It gives some sense of what WF-Sections can do, although we aren't using all of the amazing features of the module.

Cheers,

Béla

I use WF-Sections on two of my sites and am enormously pleased with it. These are:

Internet Ad Sales :http://www.internetadsales.com

(The WF-Sections section is here:http://www.internetadsales.com/xoops/modules/wfsection/ - content is rather slim at the moment)

and

Office Diversions :http://www.officediversions.com.

We have a large jokes and office humor section which will go live in a few days, developed in WF-Section. It's a good deal more customized than the Internet Ad Sales solution, but at the moment it's only visible to admins. We'll go live with it by the middle of next week.

The version we're using on Office Diversions was downloaded from here:http://modules.xoops2.com/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=1 -- found through a Google dig, although the top areas of the xoops2.com site seem to be inactive as of this writing, as you mentioned.

I, too, am curious as to the current and future status of that which I find to be one of the most useful XOOPS enhancements around. Catzwolf? Anyone?

Regards,

Béla

Hi Xoopsers,

I've been muddling over a little problem and have been unable to unearth a solution in the forums as yet. I would like to change the number of postings by user listed from each module in userinfo.php. It is currently set at 5 per module. I'd like to increase this to 20, or possibly all, but can't find where the limit of 5 is specified anywhere.

In this case, I'm looking to change things on a poetry site where users would like to have all their posted poems listed in their user profile - sort of a low-budget personal home page solution:http://www.everypoet.net/xoops/modules/news/

A user profile example:http://www.everypoet.net/xoops/userinfo.php?uid=430

I'd like to be able to avoid forcing visitors to click "show all" to display the complete list of News (defined on this site as "Poetry") postings by that particular user - but would like to display a complete list such as that generated by clicking "show all", but embedded within the primary user profile page.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Béla

Most of the Java applets and some other features used on the site are freeware -- I'm putting them all together in a nicely organized downloads section for registered users. Will post here as soon as they are all collected.

I've now added this little tweak to the Description field as well, i.e.:

<meta name="description" content="<{$xoops_pagetitle}> at <{$xoops_meta_description}>" />

which suits the purposes of this particular site nicely. I found it troublesome to browse Google's page results and simply read the same description over and over again. This at least appends the article title to the beginning of the site-wide meta-description, which is slightly more, shall we say, descriptive. It's not ideal, however. It would be better to add a short "summary" or "abstract" field to the News module, defined by article writers at posting-time, which would replace the meta_description field when users (more specifically, search engine spiders) view an article. If I get around to doing it, I'll post it here. If someone beats me to it, please post it!

See this tweak in action here:

Hi folks,

We've now launched our latest XOOPS site, Office Diversions : The Productivity Reduction Discovery Center and would welcome feedback on content, usability and so forth. The site aims to provide amusement and distractions for anyone sitting around an office looking for something to do beside work, which, in my experience, includes approximately everyone who ever sat around an office. Please have a look and post your comments, observations, rants and feedback.

Thanks!
