I believe my server uses older versions of php and MySQL but I am not sure (and I dont even know how to check on a shared server). I downloaded the files (as I believe you did, instead of changing them by hand, which i tried but made mistakes) and dropped them where the old ones where. Since I had made changes to that files already, by trying to implement other hacks, i was a bit worried things would not work, but fortunately they did. it was actually that simple so I dont know of any other thing to try.

BTW I dont know if this is important but I am using the previous release of xoops, I believe its .02 instead of .03

Hope you fix your issues...

BTW another benefit (besides the extra traffic) would be the way it makes bookmarking easier. Right now each forum post you try to bookmark modifies the previous one (unless you change its name of course)

I also posted the need (IMO) to match the title of the page with the content (many other people posted it too, not that I came up with a brilliant idea). I hope that this is considered for a future version, in the meantime I havent been able to find a way of doing it w/o modifying the code so much that it would make it a pain to upgrade, does anyone know of a way of doing this by just modifying template files? that would be interesting because then you can keep it as you upgrade...

Thanks!

I still dont understand many of the 'technical' issues (like PID for example) but I have a better idea of how your hack works, and what I do understand is enough for me (and I'm sure the technical stuff means something for everybody else

I will give it a try, your hack seems to do exactly what I want..thanks again.

also, does one have to "uninstall' one of the hacks before "installing" the other? I have been trying so many things to get this done that I dont even know how many files I modified...

Hi:

I wonder if anyone can explain (in a simple, for non programmers way) the difference between these hacks. I currently use one of them (I believe its jan's) and it seems to work, users stay logged for the time that I specify the custom session to last. I have setted that in minutes to a day, I would like to set it longer (like some sites I visit where I'm never logged out) but I read someplace that it wasnt a good idea, because of performance issues with the server.

What i wonder is if these new hack by andrey will let me set it so that users never log out (unless they want to). I guess I am missing something here, but thats why a good explanation would help

and I also vote for having this into xoops..this or something similar, I dont understand enough to talk about the security issues involved, but I believe it should be at least an option.

Thanks AndreyRa!

i am sure a lot of people here appreciate this work (I do at the very least . There has been discussions for ages on an autologin for xoops. BTW I am using an older version of a hack I found somewhere here, but it doesnt work in a very reliable way, so its great to have other options
