I tried JAVesey's first suggestion. Quote:

1. delete the class/smarty/plugins and class/smarty/xoops_plugins folders

2. upload the same folders from the 2.3.1 package

3. update the system module

and no success. When I cloned the default templates, I got this error message:
Notice: Only variables should be assigned by reference in file /kernel/tplfile.php line 264.

The cloned templates reflect the same number as the default set however when I view the list, there are some that are not generated.

Using the default template set, my menu looks normal.
Using the template set I just created, the left menu is extended into the rest of the page.

My apologies for the pictures, but that is the best I can do with the tools I have at hand at the moment. Hopefully this gives a bit of insight.

I'll give JAVesey's suggestions a try and report back.

I upgraded from 2.2.4 and never had an install of any other version in case that matters in some way. My intro to XOOPS was 2.2.3 installed automatically by the host.

I have the following modules:
System 2
User profile 1.51
Private Messaging 1
WF-Links 1.03
CBB 3.08
WF-Downloads 3.2
Protector 3.2
THAdmin 1.1
Marquee 2.46

Thanks, much appreciated.

Any takers on the Isolated Comments or prefix questions?

Thanks,

Where would the php.ini file be located?

Using cPanel I have access to the server at a level showing me the folders www, public_html, public_ftp etc however I don't see a php.ini file. I assume it is not in the root folder of my site.

Is this something I have to ask the hosting company to do?

I have Protector 3.2 installed with XOOPS 2.3.1.
I have the alert that register_globals and allow_url_fopen are not secure. How much of a concern is this and how do I fix it? I have done some reading but can't figure it out.

I also have one site that was installed by the host with the default prefix. How do I fix that issue?

When I use the Check if Protector works well functions, the one for Contaminations tells me that "Protector detects attacking actions". The one for Isolated Comments takes me to my home page. Is this what is supposed to happen?

In working with the templates, I noticed that the red number indicated a different number of templates in a cloned or uploaded set than the number in the default set.

This is causing me a big problem due to the inability to edit the default templates.

I have also tried downloading the default template set and uploading it again with a new name.

The download/upload works fine and I can select the template I have uploaded, but the template set has errors.

Hi,

I would like to export my users' names and mailing addresses to send them greeting cards. Ideally into a format that could be easily handled by another program or print directly to labels.

Is there a module that is capable of this?

I'm using 2.3.1.

If I have to draw from the database manually, I would appreciate advice in that department as well.

I created a clone of the default templates to make some minor changes.
I am finding that when I create a clone and then change to that template set, it is not an exact duplicate.

Specifically there seem to be issues with the left side blocks. I have cloned a couple of times with the same result.

I have set the preferences to check the templates for updates or not and deleted the data from my browser. Still I find that the cloning is not producing a precise copy.

Am I misunderstanding the purpose or process of cloning the templates?
