This is a quick announce, as it was not forseen next week (or so).

I'm proud to announce a new cms has been born : BOOPS.

It's obvious things were running slower and slower for Xoops. And I believe time has come to act. That's the reason why, with some members of the Xoops-France core team we have decided to create our own fork : Belgian Object Oriented Portal System.

Why Boops, then? Why Belgium (I agree it may sounds stupid, but not more than Xoops, and its endless hypothetical release announces, if you want my opinion) ?

Why not should I say. Belgium is the mere exemple of people coming from different culture, traditions, languages around the same great project: Wallon, flemish, german speaking persons, bruxellers... We are a small country, but we have a cohesion in our choises.

The ultimate drop, was the permanent censorship I have been victim from Christian, our Frenc speaking community team leader. For instance (so that you may undertand), my article on the meeting in france was deeply censored and edited by him, because I was quite sceptical regarding the new XOOPS version... And I'm not talking about the whole documentation I was working on, and which has finally never been released. Sorry Christian, but this has to be stopped.

So now, it's time to go ahead. I invite you all to discover our brand new support website and download a first version of the core files. (Beware, this is still a test version, not to be used on a production site ! ! !).

Xoops is dead, long live to Boops !

Take your time to read the readme file. It explains how to install a code line in your theme to activate the module monitoring.

Ok, I understand what you mean. Unfortunatly, I don't think I'll make it configurable for the following reasons.

1) There are already plenty configuration possibilities in the blocks settings.

2) I don't like the idea to have just one config settings, for just one specific menu (imagine what would be the default block config pannel if I used to have one or more for each and everyone.) Some people are confused enough with everyting which is already in.

3) The module has entered in his RC stage, which means that we don't want to make further big changes. I think we have worked enough on it so far, and it finally needs to be published. We are currently finalising the context menu and the documentation (traduction, verification, etc.).

4) Templates are developped on purpose for such modification. I think at this stage, it's up to the webmaster to tweak the code to his likeness.

All this doesn't mean I couldn't take in account your request for a futur release. All suggestions are always welcome, as you know. Hope you understand my position.

erm... Jason, what are your references in XOOPS module development? Have you ever developped something for Xoops?

When you say you are ready to develop a module for "around $100", what kind of module are your ready to produce?

Oh, and what about smarty?

My experience has been that if I have a full URL for the top Main Menu item, then vertical switch sublinks won't show. I have just realized that this is inconsistent. In one test menu the problem is present, in another, in a separate multimenu block it doesn't and I will have to find time to see if I can see why they behave differently.

Back on this point.

First, there were a problem with the "related link actvation". We have corrected the script and the bug is fixed.

The next problem you have reported (in pm) is not a bug, but a misunderstood of the link specification. That is, you must understand the difference between "permanent link" and "relative link".

Permanent links would display all the time, whatever page you are on.

Relative links (which you have selected and appears for you to be unpredicative) appears only if its main link is active. For instance, if you have set 2 related links under the main "article" link. Those 2 related links would only appear if your are on one of the "article" module. If you are not, none of the 2 sublinks would display, and the main link would be active as a standard link.

So, to solve your trouble, set all your sublinks as "permanent sublinks".

Hope you get what I mean...
