Are you guys updating version 1.0? Version 1.91 is available here:
http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/?dms

P.s. I found this version via this site:
http://www.babylonbyxoops.net/

These folks have done a great job cataloging XOOPS modules!

Hi ghia,
Tried the variable value change, same results for this particular feed. I get the following error in XHLD (no errors in XOOPS debug):
Failed saving data to database for headline Testing XmlParse errorInvalid character at line 10

Here is line 10 from the feed source:
<description>?? ???????? ??? ?????????? ?? ??? ???? ????...!</description>

Coincidentally this is the first line the native characters are displayed in the source. Perhaps an issue with the feeds encoding (iso-8859-7)?

Out of curiosity, how did you see the 403 error? The feed validates in W3C and shows no errors in firebug.

Edit: the forum here isn't displaying the characters correctly in the bottom code box.

XHLD works great, I use it for many feeds but for some reason it doesn't like this feed. In fact this is the first time I have seen it fail to fetch and display an RSS or Atom feed.

I would like to try another feed with the same charset/language from another site to prove or disprove that as the cause. If nothing else it would narrow down the possible causes of the issue.

Edit: I am using XOOPS 2.3.2b, Apache 2.2.8, MySQL 5.0.58, PHP 5.2.6

I thought that originally as well. I tested in one of my XOOPS installs and it throws and XML error when submitted in XHLD with the feed URL.

You're right the feed's meta tags look OK and it validates fine at W3C. I tested all the RSS variations from the feed's originating site (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0) and all throw the same error when added to XHLD.

I wondered if the charset and XHLD were not compatible. The feed works in other applications and checks out as valid so it's an issue with XHLD.

Could it be the character set? The XML in the source looks valid.

Edit: it is valid here:

To change to "legacy" for administration theme (change xoops_ to your table prefix):
UPDATE xoops_conf SET conf_value "legacy" WHERE conf_name "cpanel"

An up to date "quick start" guide would be a great addition to the existing documentation. It's something that would get new users up and running with minimal effort and avoid much of the confusion.
