As far as I can see it's bilingual, anyway the code is quite simple.

Ask the webmaster of solocanada... he/she should be able to send you a link (or zip/tar).

Can I set it up so vistos can do a search of the member's database? What I'd like to do is populate the database with all the members first, then allow them to log on and change their own information. Is this possible with XOOPS?

Yes, no problem

Can registered members also have different levels? IE: We'd like the members to have a certain access level. Board of Directors another. Even insurance adjustors and practioners (doctors, physiotherapists, etc). Each lever can see and download different information.

Also: no problem.

How customizable is the look of XOOPS? I've looked through the Themes area, but they all look pretty much the same - or at least they have the same basic layout.

One of those themes could be the basis for yours. Check out the Natal http://developer.berlios.de/dbimage.php?id=1153 theme and have look at www.poink.be. Can you tell that the Poink theme is based on the natal theme? I started out with natal and ended up with the theme as it is running now by changing the colors in the css and fitting the images in theme.html. Don't forget to check out the imago and 7dana themes. I also remember reading something from Mithrandir about converting templatemonster themes to xoops...

Conclusion: XOOPS is the right choise.

Herko: He already has an account @ Canaca. I think that they are saving money on connections.
