I just turned on debug.

Here's the error I got.

Quote:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: newbb_get_topics_viewed() in /home/uneduca/public_html/modules/newbb/index.php on line 77

I upgraded from 2.0.7.3 to 2.0.9.2 and now I have a blank page on my newbb 2.0 section.

Anyone else experience this?

There's a file called login.php in the extras folder -- is this file supposed to be uploaded to your server too as part of the 2.0.9.2 update?

If so, where does it go?

Ricky,

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the last step about running a system update. How exactly do you do that from the adimcp? Is it like updating a module?

I've been trying to solve the way some XOOPS modules tend to incorrectly display apostrophes all day. But I haven't had much luck.

I tried to use the new Super Spotlight 2.1 (used on the guitar site) but I gave up because when it pulled news items for the "other news" section it messed up displaying titles that utilized apostrophes. It inexplicably adds a space and capitalizes the "s" so that the titles appear as: People' S Choice Awards.

Even though the title is correctly listed in the News 1.21 module.

I installed the normal Spotlight 1.4 module and noticed that it does not have this problem. That's great, but I do like the layout of Super Spotlight 2.1 better. I was wondering why Spotlight 1.4 correctly displays the "other news" titles while the "new and improved" Super Spotlight 2.1 off-shoot does not?

OK so the reason some mods mess up is because they have incorrectly used "text sanitization." If that's the case then how do I fix the way Super Spotlight handles text sanitization?

If anybody knows, I'd love to know. Thanks so much for your time!

I've been trying to fix the apostophe problem on my site. I updated the most recent configitem.php to my kernal folder but I'm still having a problem.

It sounds as if magic_quotes_gps should off, no? Anyone I ran phpinfo on my site and magic_quotes_gpc is set to "on." How do I set it to "off" -- and will setting it to "off" fix the quote problems along with the new configitem?

I hope the apostrophe catastrophe is fixed in the next version of XOOPS.

Eek, yeah I read about the storm on the news! No we didn't get anything, although it's been raining this morning. I'm sure we're in for it soon enough though! I'd actually take snow over rain I think!

Hmm, I checked PHPINFO and it reports than magic_quotes_gpc is ON. Which is correct, is it not? Incidentally, here is a link to my server's php configuration info.

I'm also having some problems with apostrophes. If I use one in a News 1.21 title then the title appears incorrenctly in Super Spotlight block and if I use titles in News 1.21 and go back and edit the item it adds backslashes "\" where the apostrophes were. And if I use any apostrophes in Agenda-X then the entry will not display at all.

I'm told that this is because of improper use of the text sanitizer -- I was wondering what the "proper" use of the text sanitizer was and if it was a relatively simple code fix.

I'm not sure but you might check the PHP setting for "magic_quotes_gpc". My site doesn't have that problem but I've seen issues with some other modules due to apostrophes.

So you're in Ottawa eh? You didn't get the snow storm last night? Down here in the Big Smoke (Toronto) we got the full monty of weather. Depending where you are it rained, sleeted, and snowed. Lots of ice scraping sounds this morning.. I love it..

Super Spotlight Apostrophes Quotation marks ' " How to fix

I'm noticing that a lot of XOOPS modules have problems when apostrophes/quotation marks are used in the title description.

I know that Agenda-X will not even post an event if an apostrophe is used in an entry.

The next module that I've found to have a problem displaying quote marks in title entries is new Super Spotlight mod (seen with the guitar website).

When I type...
Quote:
People's Choice Awards

...in a News 1.21 title it displays as...
Quote:
People' S Choice Awards

...in Super Spotlight's Other News block. It adds a space and capitalizes the "S" and it's driving me NUTS!

How can this be fixed? And why do a lot of XOOPS modules have probles with quotation marks? ' " Is it some basic flaw in the core?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, not sure what you did then? Did you actually delete the admin.php file?

In FTP do you see a admin.php file in your public_html folder?

In your browser type:http://www.YOURSITENAMEHERE.com/admin.php

Make sure that you have a check mark in the Active column of your System module.

If you want to remove modules from your main menu then place a 0 in the Order column.

If I only knew what it was. I was trying to limit what was showing up as far as menu selections go and come to find that I have eliminated access to the Administration function. I can't change what I don't have access to. I do have access to files via FTP and a text editor but don't have the foggiest notion of what to do.
Anyone else ever do anything like this before ?
