Thanks David; I'll scope out a couple of links in the dl section here that say they are related to my downloads...xasset does.

I have 2.2.3a installed and need some help simplifying the setup of wf-downloads (obtained via the community pack)

[1] I don't want the alphabetical index at the top of the page

[2] I want all of the downloads to be listed on the main downloads page. I only have a few.

[3] I won't want the legend showing showing the diff download icons to appear (New Today New 3 days etc)

If wf-downloads can't be simplified to this degree is there a module that can be?

Thanks

Can someone help with this? Perhaps using a custom block to implement a site front page isn't the ticket after all? I would really like wysiwyg editing and that seems to be disabled or something. Is there a good alternative approach?

Custom Block renders bb-code to site

I have created a custom block for use as my site's front page. The problem is that bb-code is being rendered to the front page, not text marked up as bold or whatever. For testing, the entire content of that block is 'this should be bold' applied with the B (bold) icon in the message area. The output to the front page is like:

[-b-]this should be bold[-/b-]

(I've added hyphens, not sure how else to post such text here without it rendering as bold)

Content type is set to html. I don't have this issue with other parts of XOOPS (2.2.3a) for instance the forum module seems to use the same set of controls, and bold items inserted with the icons render as expected.

If I use regular html tags in the block, they render as expected.

WF-Downloads - turn off the index (abcd...) and where to put the files?

I'm just starting to set up the 2.2.3 community pack included WF-Downloads, and a basic question I have is, where do I put the files to be downloaded? At a location like this?

www.mysite.com/downloads/myfile.zip

I've seen other setups where there is a dir off the root, below the public_html folder, called something like "/trusteddir" that files are uploaded into for downloading. But that was another cms and I am pretty unfamiliar with the issues. Would it be better to have the files for download stored outside the public site? How would I ref that with WF-Downloads? IE what the url would look like isn't clear to me.

Also, my site will only have a few files offered for download, is there a way to turn off the "Browse Downloads by alphabetical listing" index (a b c d...) at the top of the page? In fact, I don't even need categories; but those seem to be required?

Thanks

Hi Bender

Not sure how I'd post the source code of the block? Do I show it in the blocks editor in xoops, the get the source of from the browser (view source) and try to extract the part that applies to the block? View source reveals a mass of stuff...

Also, I called my custom block "FrontPage" and so "FrontPage" is rendered at the top of the page...I don't want that, is there a way to get rid of it?

OK, thanks, clunky I can live with...probably it'll get better over time...just wanted to know if it was 'buggy' or just immature, or if I was not using it correctly.

OK, thanks, one q for you about that, which is will I have to keep using the List command to get the users that are in the system? The first time I opened the ext profiles module, there were not users listed...the only user is my admin acct so far. The dropdown list for "Selected User" is empty, I have to click List, the pick the user, the Add, then they're in the ext profiles dropdown, then I can finally edit...that is clunky, no?
