No, no you are definetely right. I am not saying it explicitly in my post, but I did change the settings and that is why it is puzzling me.

I did, as explained in the post above (physical path, url and database tables prefix - the other database details remain the same).

Dear All,

I am a bit confused with the reasons my XOOPS configuration is not working as expected. I have set up a XOOPS site that works fine (say, for the sake of the argument that the Unix path to the files is /htdocs/site1, the URL is www.test1.com and the database prefix is xoops.

I created a subdomain www.test2.test1.com and defined the web root for the files of that subdomain to be /htdocs/test2. I made a copy of all the tables in the database and changed the prefix from XOOPS to xoops12. Copied the files over to test2, changed physical path to /htdocs/test2, url to www.test2.test1.com and XOOPS database prefix to xoops12 (the database details have not changed). Of course, I copied the original files to the new test2 directory.

I would expect the new site to be working fine now. However, this is not the case. It doesn't do anything at all, but if I change physical path to /htdocs/test1 - leaving all else intact, everything works fine.

What am I missing here?

Thanks,
George

Is there a way you can automatically delete posts coming from certain IP addresses or posts that contain certain expressions?

Thanks,

Managing XOOPS Blocks

Would it be possible to have a custom php page with specific XOOPS modules displayed? I know you can use show_rblocks[option]=1 for example to have all right blocks shown, but would it be possible to exclude one of them for a custom page? The problem is this page is not a standard XOOPS page, but a page that I developed by including certain blocks.

Thanks,
George

User table in XOOPS Database

What is the name of the field from the users table that shows whether the user is an administrator or a registered user (or both)? I tried editing a user from administrator to a registered user and the system wouldn't accept it (despite the fact that there are other 3 admin accounts).

I tried level and rank but it doesn't sound right, judging from the values in the table.

Moving from one host to the other

Hi All,

I have done this before without problems and that is why it puzzles me so much. I have my XOOPS site hosted by one provider in UK and I want to move it to another provider as well.

I followed these steps:

(i) Back up the database in a text file with SQL commands
(ii) Copied all the files (using binary transfer mode) from one host to the other.
(iii) Edited mainfile.php to include the new configuration details.

Is anything missing from the list or anything else that might have gone wrong? I only get a blank page no matter how many times I tried (I also emptied the cache and templates_c directories).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
George

How can I combine code in one template that deals with a links category and its sub-categories?

Is $category assigned to main categories and then $subcategories used to refer to sub-categories within this category (or is it $infercategories)?

Dear All,

Did a bit of research and found out that the block using news_block_top.html as its template is news_top.php.

I looked in there for $xoopstpl->assign statements, but there were none. There were a few in article.php , but none of them related to the date or the title of the story.

Basically, I want to add an assign statement - pressumably it would need to be done in news_top.php - so that the introductory text (bodytext in the database) is included on the page as well.

Any help would be valuable.

Thanks,
Jason

Using Smarty Variables in Modules

Dear All,

How can we make certain Smarty variables available to templates? For example, in the recent news template the <{$hometext}> Smarty variable is not available, but hometext is a database field in the stories table in the database.

Thanks,
Jason
