I having the same issues, a nice page with only this line on it.

/page.idx is not writable. Check your permissions settings!

I checked my setting / rights.. even set it all to world writeble but nothing seems to work.

Anyone has an idea who maintains this module?

When I updated to the latest version xoops-2.2.3a-Final and checked my site I saw ); } } ?> at the bottom of my pages.
I checked footer.php and saw this.

}
?>);
}
}
?>

I removed everything after the first ?> statement, and its now gone.

Hope if some php newby like me see's this and has the same problem, this will help him.
