Does anyone here have any experience in doing a mod rewrite on mx-directory?

I'm about to take this task on and am looking for a little guidance...

I want

/modules/restaurants/singlelink.php?cid=32&lid=4343
to read
/restaurants/CategoryName+Restaurants/RestaurantName

Also, same goes for URLS like

/modules/restaurants/viewcat.php?cid=27
should be...
/restaurants/CategoryName+Restaurants

Things I have seen are rewriting them to be link-4343.html, whereas I want the actual business name in the URL...

Any input?

I don't know how to do it, but I installed a mod re-write like you describe on OS commerce for a client and the results where fantastic. He sold more in one week than he had all the previous year.

The only issue became I had so many modifications to the core, I couldn’t make more changes without breaking something.

There was a Australian map module hack a while back on the xdirectory you might use to help make the international changes:

https://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=108&lid=1477

and here's a thread for Canada map changes.

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32890&forum=28&post_id=143454#forumpost143454

I was looking for site maps when I ran across these.

It sounds like everything is back on the fast track!

One thing I would like to see, but don't know if it is possible. My directory is nationwide - I would like a user to be able to sort listings within a category / subcategory by city, state or even country.

Seems like it could be a big bonus for suburban / metro directories where cities begin to sprawl.

Maybe the admin could set up mini directories within the main directory for the cities included.

Example: A directory for metro Los Angeles with the ability to isolate mexican resturants in just Pasedena, Burbank or Hollywood.

I have to agree with danMAN.

The developer at folsomliving.com (buliderb) built the module around an existing module mylinks, and used this community to work out the bugs. Then after careful consideration he stopped open source development on the project.

His efforts are widely used and greatly appreciated.

Lets don’t argue semantics; I use mxdirectory and xdirectory before that.

Thanks for your gallantry Mamba, but I don’t believe builderb would take offense.

I think we all use this site for our own purposes and that’s what keeps everything fresh and interesting.

Thanks Mamba for your sense of egalitarianism and thanks to danMAN for the continued development of a great module.

I’ll be glad to help out anyway I can.

I'm refering to the MX-Directory by Tripmon

http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1223

not the xDirectory by builderb.

I am using MX-Directory (mxdirectory), but I can't seem to find any updates on that one either.

Does anyone know the status there? It was coming out of beta in aug - sep 05.

Anyone know how these projects are going?

Is Mx-Directory out of beta?

Is efqdirectory off the ground at all?
