I'd be interested in how you got uploader to work. I can install the module, it looks like it works, but it doesn't allow me to upload or download anything. Is there something I missed from the extreme lack of documentation on this module? My uploads directory even had chmod 777 rights. Does anyone have decent instructions on how to setup this module once its installed?

On another note, I've FINALLY got the mydownloadsRC1 installed and configured... and I have to admit, this ACTUALLY works well as a up/download module. Great effort on Catzwolf for helping those of us in need out!

My only critique at this point Catzwolf is that when a user uploads a file with upper and lower case letters, the file gets translated and deposited to the uploads directory in all lower case. The file is there, but the link to it has the original case that the user has submitted. For example:

ThisFile.txt gets put to the server as thisfile.txt but the link to it remainshttp://site.com/uploads/ThisFile.txt... the admin then has to modify the link, and all is well, but this could be time consuming if the site expects a large amount of traffic. Just a little bug to fix.

Thanks again!

You're point is well taken, but I still don't understand why XOOPS fails to have an adequate upload utility for normal files. Photos yes, Word and PDF documents, no. Is there anyone working on such a beast? By that I mean currently working - not something that is a year or more old that is neither supported nor modified since.

One other question - why isn't such a feature regarded as being higher in the priority list of the development team?

Thanks

I'm going to chime in here... I'm very new to the entire XOOPS experience, and I really like the system as a whole... however I for one would REALLY like to see an honest to goodness upload module.

Uploader sucks (I can't get it to upload or download)

MyDownloads has an upload feature, but only if you link to it... How stupid for users that don't understand what that means, especially if their trying to upload something from their local drives.

CMS - Works for uploading, but needs some MAJOR work and cleanup. It's the only solution that works for me and my users at the momment, but it's hard to use, confusing (since the owners of uploaded files have to then assign permissions to let other use them), and it never REALLY lets you delete files.

Would someone PLEASE develop something, and something quick? I'm not a developer, I'm not a programmer, but I've got users that need EASY upload functionality, and perhaps a versioning system like CMS.

As the old saying goes... time is money, and although it sounds like most of the developers of XOOPS are busy with their internal projects, how does $100 sound for someone to do something?
