Each clients site should run with its own user and php.ini.
So you will never need 777 and a script of a user cannot write to another clients space.

Have a look at suPHP or suexec. Suhosin may give you additional security. If you are running apache, see mod_security2 also.

IMHO, the thing that new XOOPS users lack most is a single official instruction manual (just one - on this website - not a WIKI or 20+ useful articles) and proper system-specs for modules.

100% agree!
I really miss a detailed HowTo on writing modules including all features like tokens, comment functions etc.

Problem is solved for me since i updated to 2.2.5 (2.2.6 is the latest version) and installation of XOOPS protector module.

Maybe you should update to 2.2.6 and use Xoops Protector.

There i see only the 2.2.3a-to-2.2.4 patch and a unstable 2.2.5

The 060523 Security patch is for 2.2.4 or other version?

I am running a site with XOOPS 2.2.4 from 01-2006.

Are there any (security) updates for this version?

I only found updates for the 2.0.x path of Xoops.

So there was no security issues found in the 2.2.4 version?

since the update to the last version (2.2.3a) iam sometimes redirected with a malformed link after actions in the admin section.

The Links look as follows:
http://www.domain.de/modules/system/%5C'admin.php?fct=preferences'

any ideas what could cause this problem?

Update: Found it. There was an error in the language file global.php that i use.

Error was in the Definition of "_IFNOTRELOAD" where it reads
<a href = /'%s/'instead of
<a href '%s'>
