i would suggest you look at your control panel on your hosting package - most hosts have one of some type and then check the log and sort in order of bandwitdh used.

this might be obvious but it will tell you where everything has gone.
i had a similar thing with an image i put on my site and somebody took it and used it as an avatar on another forum - still linked into my site so i was hosting thier avatar.

i replaced the image with an altered one with added text say something like 'i'm an image thief' or something like that and they soon stopped

i am having some issues with users not being able to sign in and have tried all the normal routes as far as i can tell
- it has been a while since i installed XOOPS and cant remember which build i had but think i would like to re copy the majority of files and see if an update works.

i used to have a custom block which told me the version i had installed (i have customised my site some what and cant now tell in normal ways)

does anyone know the line of code that will report back to me the exact version i have installed

(sorry for long winded post)

Thanks for your thought carnuke - i will be making that menu open on hover - i don't know why i didn't.

how would i go about make the menu searchable? somehow fix it by sorting the robots.txt file?

i wish i had more time to work on this - far to many commitments right now grrr

i would have to agree dan - to much information isnt a good thing.
the simple answer to your problem i think it that you can do it either way. It kinda depends on what you might like to do with it in future (expansion or site development)
you best bet is to use XOOPS in its almost standard 3 coloumn layout and just dont assign any modules for the right coloumn.
that way you would have just a left for your menu options and the centre for your default module - such as the forum.

you could then use centre left and right for things like updated news and feeds.
I think as standard these appear after the main centre module - so it would be an enticer for the user to read more.

hope some of that helps (xmt is a good module to start basing things on and is well layed out with info for a new XOOPS user)

just for some general feedback and ideas really
been tinkering on it for some time now and the idea has been there even longer.

i wanted to make a quite unlike xoops, XOOPS theme and you will see what i mean if you look at it.

http://web.80110x.com/

it looks best in firefox atm as i havent totally sorted the ie png problem
and the main layout css hasn't been written in yet, but this is a proof of concept for me really.

all the menus change depending on if you are logged in or not.

cheers

the only fault that showed up with all/any of the debug bits was 'unabale to register user'

i ahve permissions set so anon can access register.php now
and have got allow user registration turned on
still does it though - will check my dev server to see if that has any problems there as well

ok ok i shall leave this as a note for anyone else that has this problem.
1. In permissions goto the anonymous users section
2. Find the module access rights to 'Extended profiles'
3. Tick the box
4. Register.php should now work

I am looking around frustratedly for a smarty templates guide for xoops.
i have in the past been pointed to smarty's website but its not XOOPS specific as far as i can tell.
Somebody out there must have a list of available smarty code that we can use in out theme designs.

searching the forums doesn't come up with anything
thanks
