I have set up a ccompletely fresh install of xoops 2.5.6 with newbb, publisher and shoutbox. It all runs smoothly, except for a problem several of my visitors run into> When logging in, when posting a cooment or when selecting a menu option they get a popup for a porn site. I have protector running, I have done several online scans(all say the site is safe and clean), I have checked the source but I can not find anything related. I am desperate, especially since this one was setup because the "old" site ran into several problems.
Does anyone have the same experience,/solution/direction where to look?

first change your FTP password! do not share your password!
then take a look at the last modified files on your server. there must be some changed code to redirect the users to this porn sites

You whole server might be compromised, and even if you set a new site within your old server, it won't help.
To make sure that you have a clean installation, I would suggest to have a fresh installation on a new server - only this way you could make sure that you have a clean code.

I was afraid of that. Thanks Mamba!
