I have quite an odd issue. I installed CBB 3.08 on my (quite old) Xoops installation 2.0.17 Multilanguage Hack and when I try to include an image in a post, using [img]-Tags they don't get parsed.

Does anybody have an idea, what the reason could be?

The following link leads to an example on my website:
http://www.ocaholic.ch/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4&post_id=7#forumpost7

What's quite funny, that the [url]-Tag is being parsed correctly ...

Forum is now accessible to public.

PHP 5.3.3-7+squeeze14 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Aug 6 2012 14:18:06)
Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies
with Xdebug v2.1.0, Copyright (c) 2002-2010, by Derick Rethans
with Suhosin v0.9.32.1, Copyright (c) 2007-2010, by SektionEins GmbH

The other weird things, that in the News (1.55) module, the image tags are working.

//edit
In some input fields Language tags aren't parsed too. It's like mytextsanitizer is only working partially.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to just convert your XOOPS 2.0.17 to XOOPS 2.5.5?

You're dealing with XOOPS and CBB versions that were never certified or even tested on PHP 5.3

Maybe, but the thing is I will have to move from SmartSection to Publisher and then all the links will change and since, I have a boatload of backlinks referring to all those product reviews, I'm kind of stuck.

I think, I told you before that you can keep the links by:

- importing SmartSection into Publisher
- renaming SmartSection to something else
- cloning Publisher into SmartSection

I did it for a customer of mine, and there was no disruption on their website.

You can also do it with Apache mod_rewrite, but I never worked with it...

You're right. You told me that. It looks like I should really do it your way.

Re: CBB 3.08 img bbcodes don't work

Many of the issues you are having are due to the fact you are using a version of xoops and modules designed for php4. As php5 has progressed many of the functions that were supported under php4 are no longer available. Also some ways of doing things are done differently now so you will find problems with this old code running on newer versions of php.

You really only have two choices if you want your site to remain working.

Downgrade your host to a compatible version of php or upgrade your site to the latest stable version of xoops.

There will be some conversion "pain" depending on how many modules you are using and you should try to accomplish the conversion on a separate computer to make sure it works before you convert your main host over. You can even move everything to a local server and do the conversions there and then move them back which would be the easiest route to take since all you need to do is copy the database and all of your files. You will have to tweak your mainfiles.php to tell the system where everything is but you do not want to attempt this on an online server.

With the newer xoops you will have a much more secure system.

Before you try the upgrade I would suggest removing any non essential modules and then disabling any of the old modules left on your system. This will allow you to upgrade your system to the latest xoops and test your theme out and make any necessary changes without the modules getting in the way. Then enable the modules one by one resolving any issues you find. Resolving issues may mean moving to a newer version of a compatible module or you may need to update a few lines of code if the module is simple.

Chances are that any module used by your system from when it was current will need to be upgraded or replaced.

But do realize that unless you host this server at your home you will likely have to upgrade at some point.
