What's the difficulty level of porting a drupal module to xoops?

Just curious if anyone has looked into porting a module from drupal before. There is a module over there, that I'd really like over here.

If you have attempted it, what's involved? Is it hairy and scary?

Cheers

It depends also on the module. Do you have a link?

But why we should port from drupal and joomla. why dont we create modules to compete thier modules. i think it is better we should develop modules that should compete thier modules.

I meant that we have lot developers of xoops. I am also not a developer but learner. if we want to bring XOOPS on top then we our XOOPS developer team at least should give one hour of thier time every day for developing new moudles for XOOPS and improving its native modules. But personally i think not a good idea copying joomla or drupal modules. it is my personal opinion. about the forum scripts, galleries and other scripts which are not joomla and drupal native scripts. yes we should port them.

Porting Drupal or Joomla modules/components is just a bad idea. The systems are different in many ways. Even porting modules from XOOPS forks can be a hard task. We can copy the concept, database structure, third party libraries but that is about it. The work of porting is about the same (or more) than making one from scratch.

I do have a link:

http://drupal.org/project/marketplace

I don't think it would be a very popular module for most people and hence don't see a point in trying to rewrite from the ground up. I run a couple local community websites and we have a strong interest in this type of software.

Thanks for any advice.

Hmmm, IC. . .I'll try to get hold of the original developer and see if he can assist me with the non-drupal bits.

here is another excellent joomla extension that needs to be migrated and that XOOPS is definitely missing and ignoring. xoops's surely in shortage of e-commerse modules with two subscriptions modules and oledrion...
