Should I "Downgrade" from 2.2.3a to 2.0.X?

I have found quite a few issue with installing various modules with 2.2.X, namely XoopsPoll, Content, SNX_Weather, BMSurvey.

So I am thinking of downgrading XOOPS from 2.2.3a to 2.0.X.

Questions:
(1) Is this advisable? Easy? Error prone?
(2) I noticed the 2.2.3a release notes say "many bugs" were fixed. Is it worthwhile to downgrade?
(3) Do module developers not upgrade these when appropriate? Can they be done by people other than the original author?

Thanks,
Kurt

Hmmmm ... not seen any big issues but i guess only a handfull of people downgraded so far.

Guess it won´t hurt. There are no major issues with the XOOPS 2.0.x tree.[/quote]

Some are no longer maintained. Sometimes authors don´t have the time. Also right now some might hold back waiting for XOOPS 2.3.x which will be the next major step and bring some changes between 2.2.x and itself again.
However means to upgrade to 2.3.x will be provided from both paths.

How about doing a local setup of your website and just doing the downgrade to test how it goes for you. If it gets your modules going for you it will be much faster than waiting for these modules in a version compatible with 2.2.x.
Sorry, this signature is experiencing technical difficulties. We will return you to the sheduled signature as soon as possible ...

That's exactly what I am doing :) I have found very few modules that completely work with 2.2.3a. Some install but have errors (some I have solved e.g. MyAlbum; most havent e.g. Content, CJay Content IE5.5), some dont work at all (XoopsPoll).

I'm using XOOPS 2.2.3 with newbb/cbb 2.3, xfsection 1.10, weblinks 0.96, contact 1.5, multimenu 1.74, and phpmyadmin 2.6. All seem to work fine (except for the frigging forum digest feature in newbb... and notifications don't work with xfsection)

I had to try out loads of other modules, which didn't work, before these. The only two that are left in my modules page are Articles 2.41 or Contact Plus 0.8 - I can't remember what the others were.

Hope this helps

I downgraded to 2.0.13.2 and *almost* all modules are working. I noticed you used Weblinks 0.96; I was on 0.93. The problem I have with Weblinks is creating categories. I get the following error:

PHP Fatal errorOnly variables can be passed by reference in c:Inetpubwwwroothtmlmodulesweblinksclassxoops_form_extend.php on line 486

So I am unable to create categories :( Any ideas?

I have only ever used 2.2.3 so can't comment on previous versions. Perhaps weblinks 0.93 is not compatible with the old version of xoops?

weblinks 0.96 is available from the author's website at: http://linux2.ohwada.net/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=9

Maybe you could get the answer from there? (Try to use their forum for queries - I admit I couldn't register - as if you use the contact form you will get a terse reply!!)
