Hey,

I installed Fedora3 which has PHP4.x and installed MySQL5. I then tested the apache server and found got it working. I then wrote a test php script <?phpinfo()?> (or something like that) that produced a php page with all the details confirming that php is working.

But when I go to the server to install I get

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/2.0.52 (Fedora) Server at _default_ Port 80"

I've checked and rechecked permissions and changed owner several times but nothing I do seems to work. This server is on the intranet.

I experienced the same problem when I attempted to install XOOPS on my Fedora box. I had initially used the mv command to move all the files from the htdocs directory in the XOOPS package to my server's document root. Attempting to access any of those files would result in an access denied error (even the css file).

The solution for me ended up being to copy the files (using cp) rather than move them. I can not offer any information as to why this would fix the issue as ownership and permissions are exactly the same as when the files were moved, but it seemed to be the solution for me.

Hope this helps.
