Hi all!

I've been MIA for a long time. Recently my web host has upgraded the PHP to version 5.0.4. My website is no longer working.

The problem is that my XOOPS version is very likely to be older than 2.0.7 as it does not support PHP5. I can't go in to the admin nor can I remember what version it was!!

I have backed up my site. So, that much is in control.

I've tried the step by step upgrade right from 2.0.3 onwards, but it didn't help. I've tried uploading 2.2.3a full version and did an upgrade via xoopsupdate.php but it didn't work either. I couldn't set PHP debug on as I couldn't see anything when I went to the home page, let alone signing on.

So, I deleted the mySQL database (I have a backup remember!), recreated a new blank one, and reinstalled Xoops. Installation went well but when I went to the home page, it was blank.

My host is running:
PHP 5.0.4
MySQL 4.0.22-standard-log

Please help!

Many thanks!

Use your backup and recreate your site locally.

Use xsas or an older version of xampp with php 4 and MySQL (< 5.x).

Then do the neccessary updates locally. Once done upload the final version back to your webhosting.

Thanks for the quick response.

I don't have a local LAMP server. I also have never heard of xsas nor xampp. Dear me. Sounds like it is going to take a long time to fix.

Why is it that even if uploaded all the files, deleted the mySQL database, reinstall it, it still doesn't work? Any idea? That sound to me like almost a fresh install.

Where do I start??

Xampp and xsas are easy to install and use.

Xsas link is on the left side menu on Xoops.org.
Xampp is on apachfriends (first hit with google) however make sure you use one of the older versions which are in their download section on sourceforge.net.

If you still have a backup of the original files you could find out your actual XOOPS version by opening the file

{xoops-rootdir}/include/version.php

If you donĀ“t want to go that way ... please check the faq on how to activate php debug in the database or otherwise.
Then get back with the error message and which version you have installed now since you went back to your backup if i got it right.
