Plainly it works for a bunch of people.

I want to have a basic Intro block that lives on the home page. I thought a news story that I could edit easily would do for that, but it does not show.

Well I have done a bunch of reading, and gave up.. added a custom block as a test, and it is working. http://www.thelittlecow.org

however, I cannot see how to make the new block visible to annon users.

OK, so I go to admin Groups and make the new blocks visible to Annonymous Users there. Thanks for all the help. Searching the forums is all there is sometimes, and this time it was enough.
