I know its not linked to XOOPS modules however my site is telling me:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@psphacked.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.


Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I looked at the error logs and this is what I see:

[Sun Aug 28 22:36:09 2005] [alert] [client 66.183.127.236] /home/psphack/public_html/.htaccess: Invalid command 'RewriteEngine', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

Does anyone know what to do as I have not got a clue !!!

If only the lines about RewriteEngine are in the .htaccess file, remove it entirely. If there are lines other than RewriteEngine, just remove the lines regarding RewriteEngine. Many shared hosting providers use configurations that are not compatible with RewriteEngine, therefore, trying to use it will generate "500 Internal Server" errors.
