A stupid question this, I expect, but...

When writing a topic in NewBB2 (or any forum I think), if you press 'back' on the browser before you click Save, why is it that when you click forward again to get to where you were before the text you entered has all been cleared?

The reason I ask is that it's happened to me (and just happened to my colleague) where you may write ahuge topic, and for one reason or another accidentally move from the page. When you try to go back it's all been cleared.

I think it's to do with POSTDATA, but I don't understand what that is? Can anyone explain to me how it works (done a search but nothing much came up)

Thanks

Ted

Or just provide a URL link so I can read up on it myself. The best I've found on the net was someone talking about the same problem, but just how best to avoid it (like copying the text to RAM before clicking save or writing in a Word document first etc). No explanation of why it happens.

Not sure on this one either... I presume its some sort of safety thing to prevent delicate form data being preserved if another user uses the same system.

I getinto the the habit of copying big posts into notepad first.
