News 1.3 -- Spotlight Similar to AMS Look

I need to have a spotlight feature in News 1.3 that produces an effect like the one built-in to AMS 2.4. I want to choose a main spotlight surrounded by mini-spotlights based on topic or specific articles, with headers for each one.

Is there anything out there that I could use that could do this for News 1.3. Or is there anything in the pipeline that could do this?
