I am thinking about using XOOPS as a CMS for my new site....

I was hoping someone could tell me if it could list news like this on the main page, either right through the settings or through a downloadable module

Content news:
--Article 1 Title
--Article 2 Title

Site News:
--Article 1 Title
--Article 2 Title
etc...

Then, when they click the article title, it takes them to the page with the complete article.

I had set myself up with another CMS and it seems like it wouldn't be able to do this "right out of the box" and I'm really not comfortable editting PHP files and whatnot.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks alot.

This is possible with XOOPS - and much, much more!

You can have Most Recent, Most Viewed, etc. displayed in special blocks, that you are able to place where you like. You have controle over on which pages they will appear. And you can even cotrole who can and can not view what categories!

The news module comes just as you would likes it, has the feature with clicking on heading, to be transfered to the actual article, and you can have it display the news according to categories, you've created previously.

Why don't you take a look at the Visual Introduction to XOOPS, which should give you a good overview, of what XOOPS can do for you.

Hope you enjoy the Power of XOOPS, as the rest of us have come to appreciate
