I've installed XOOPS many times before but never had this problem. The install process goes: Checking file & directory permissions - No errors, Next, Next, Save configuration data .. .. saved successfully to Mainfile.php, Next, Check path & URL, Next, Confirm Database Settings, Next then blank page!! Naturally this is where it tries to create the database & tables. Checking in MySQL the tables don't exist. Other applications can connect using the same user, host & password.

Anyone got any ideas, I have chmod'ed 777 templates_c, uploads, cache & mainfile.php

Thanks

It seems that your PHP does not have MySQL properly compiled in. Double-check your phpinfo - if php has MySQL compiled properly, you should see two sections in the middle of the phpinfo page describing MySQL.

You've hit the nail on the head. I've done the install on a Suse 9.1 machine that installs different php functionality as modules. Install the php4-mysql module and it now works.

Thanks heaps for the place to look. Its appreciated.
