Getting Exrcerpts to show in Wordpress Recent post Block?

I would like to have the excerpts show in the Wordpress "Recent Posts" Block. Is there a way to code this simply in the block template?
Also, I noticed a mispell of the word excerpt as exerpt on line 330 in the minical.inc.php file.
