Hi

Have just installed Xoop and i feel so lost :(
Im used to editing styles within the vbulletin templates but i dont know where to start.

Basically, i want to setup a fansite dedicated to a computer game with the basic sections (news, comments, articles, guides, polls etc) and i have drawn and html coded my layout. How would i start to go about creating a custom template and theme for the layout i have made?

Thanks for any help :)

cool thanks

So would i be right in saying that:

to change the actual structure of my html tables i would edit the theme.html, theme_blockcenter.html etc files and to change the look of the blocks that are inserted into these files i would edit the templates for the particular block?

Theme folder: contains style sheets and skeleton template files.

Templates folder: contains templates for the individual blocks.

Is this right?

Ive done quite a bit of reading and am getting to grips with it. Really sorry for all the questions but ive got a couple more

To create different sections on my site (e.g. an articles and guides section) i would need to create 2 seperate modules and assign a particule block to these modules. Is this correct? How do i add custom modules and then how would i link to them using the blocks template? Thanks.

you may want to research article modules a little, but core modules just need to be installed and the subsequent blocks activated. you can do this through system admin -> modules and then to activate blocks go to system admin -> blocks. all modules come with blocks which can be edited for layout by cloning default templates.

also familiarize yourself with module and block permissions which will make modules and subsequent blocks accessable to different groups such as anonymous, registered, and admin.
