I try to create just like in my NewBB a flat style to show the comments on news, pics, etc... How can I change the default threaded style into a flat style? Just by changing the options in the general options part of system doesn't work...

For some reason, the comments block has a parameter for threaded display. I believe that has been changed in 2.0.7, but I'll just check. (Check: Yes it has)

I don't know if that is the source of your problem? Using the recent comments block, I mean.

No the comments block is not the problem.
What I want is a flat view of the comments on a picture or on a news-post. Now these comments are always threaded and you can't read them all at one time (like this board). I have to click each comment that follows another and then the previous one collapses again, very irritating. Summarized: I want the newbb-flat-look in my comments on pics and news...

You cannot select flat view, when you view a comments thread?

How do you access these comments? e.g. on a news item. Through the recent comments block? Through clicking on the story's title? Or through clicking on the comments link on the story's summary?

So the problem is through the link in the recent comments block.

Why on earth did you then write

The problem is that the com_mode=thread is hard-coded in the system block for recent comments found in modules/system/blocks/system_blocks.php
I have removed that in XOOPS 2.0.7
