Main Header - How to change it!

Little help please.
In the main header, I want to completely change it.
Where?
I tried change the themes/default/theme.html.
I did everything there, from deleting the complete table that describes the header --------> deleting the file theme.html.

Evidently, I am trying to edit the page and using the wrong file to do it.

Depending upon what you are trying to do you may need to edit both theme.html and style.css. Different components are located in different places.

What I would like to do is change the background color and have only text the header.
Quite like my existing page at IBEW Communications Net

Not sure, but did you activate in the admin section under preferences this option? in case you are changing the templates ...

update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?

If this option is enabled, module template .html files will be updated automatically if there are newer files under the themes/your theme/templates directory for the current theme. This should be turned off once the site goes public.
