Hi,

I want to create a custom block which can show the recently topics like what news_index.html did. But i don't want the combo box to show news topic. I have copied the html tag(with smarty) to the "Content" field. And tried to set the "Content type" to HTML/PHP/Auto format(with smailes) , but all the smarty tag are not resolved.

How can I create such a dynamic content custom block under xoops?

Newbie with CMS, need to know this too. Can anyone help?

What you are trying to do falls a little out of the scope of a custom block, which is meant for simple php or HTML.

Why not just edit the template of the original block?

I want the ability to use the content found in news_index.html, but also be able to display other blocks above or below this. That's why I wanted to put it in a custom block, so it could be weighted, but still be dynamic enough to be moved around.

Sounds like that's not the right way to skin this cat though, eh?

I would like to use smarty tags in a block. It seems that it doesn't work properly in the XOOPS cms. Perhaps we would need to migrate the system modules blocks to smarty templates. Does anyone know if we have got an hack available?
