Re: how to get rid of these errors in localhost ?!

Yep, Suhosin is the way to go, but you need VPS for that. I don't think they have it on shared services.

But Lou is only testing on his local PC, before he gets a Website:

I am testing everything on my local machine before I purchase a domain name and hosting.

For local testing, WAMPServer is the easiest for me. I've tried XAMPP, but I didn't like it.

Just FYI afterthoughts on XAMPP:

I just visited the XAMPP website and they too have an archive of past versions from which one could just copy the PHP folder in the version with PHP 5.3.

XAMPP is fit only as a dev server, never for production. Because of all the goodies it comes bundled with, there are many opportunities for exploits. But it can be hardened to close them up. XAMPP also does not support 64 bit implementation, which I cannot understand.

Unfortunately, neither XAMPP or WAMP PHP implementations include the Suhosin php security patch, and Suhosin patch exists only for installation on Linux hosted servers.

WAMP site has an archive for older versions of PHP if you run in to that issue.

While 5.26 may work, it is not advised as it is at least 5.years old with many layers of risk to be concerned about.

Excellent!

Changing permissions in Windows7 stinks. I am used to Linux and it is much easier. Maybe if I did it with FTP software it would be easier but it's been a while.

If you're using WAMPServer, you don't have to do anything there. You only need to care about it when you are trying to modify mainfile.php and security.php files, because XOOPS sets them as "read only". Other than that, I never ever need to change any permissions of any folders or files on Windows and my WAMPServer.

TortoiseSVN is probably the most user friendly SVN client. Just use it with your Windows Explorer by using the Right-click on a folder.

Hello Mamba,

I deleted everything and started over. Pretty good at this on a local install
I have PHP 5.4 installed and I downloaded and installed the 2.5.6.

I went through the install process and came up with no errors. I chose yes to install the additional modules that were offered and again, no errors.

Changing permissions in Windows7 stinks. I am used to Linux and it is much easier. Maybe if I did it with FTP software it would be easier but it's been a while.

I need to learn how to use the tool you suggested, TortoiseSVN.
I downloaded it.
I didn't find it to intuitive but I'll figure it out.

Thanks for the help and I hope this gives you a little feedback also.
