Re: Missing index file in Xoops Directory

rkennett,

1) i suggest to change your host.

2) upload zipped. Most hosting provider has got a panel with "extract" zipped files.

3) check if your host isn't compromised. Maybe someone get access there & joking with u.

4) if you're using a freeserver, check restrictions policy. An index.php must be appear anyway.

5)An URL & any extra data could help u better

Hope it helps, time for beer !

This is pretty bad service from your host. Almost definitely this is an error from webserver software. Error 500 in 99% cases are.

If this could help, if you have a local server where the install works without problems, check that phpinfo.php against the one on your host to see if any major differences.

Thank You Culex, Sorry about the delay. Have been away for a while. I will try unpacking and reinstalling. I am beginning to loose hope however as I get this message "The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log. " On its own it suggests there are clues in the error log yet my web hosts insists there is nothing and they won't go any further. I am assuming that that error is generated by their server so I am baffled and tied. But thank you for responding

Hey Rkennett. I think you might want to run the checksum.php to make sure all the files from your downloaded xoops packet is there.

My guess is that some are missing.
Missing index file in Xoops Directory

After struggling with a DB path issue I finally was able to install Xoops. However, the Xoops Directory has no index.php file and as a result I have no app to run.

I am not certain the whole process went cleanly as the module configuration step I had to run 3 times and it seemed somewhat unusual. Each time it ran one of the selected modules appeared to be installed after which I got admin setup (as I recall, though I may have the order incorrect) In any event the process concluded with a Welcome to your Xoops site.

Not sure what to do at this point...
hoping it isn't a do over
