We've indentified the enemy and it wasn't the CMS...

To me...
XOOPS future never looked brighter... than it does today.

This theme is clean and fully XOOPS --
The server is faster and much more secure...
The database is in tack as much as could be recovered and searchable. (Google and internal)

The "community car" is feeling less like a caboose and more like an engine now...

I am begining to fall in love... again!!!

BlueStocking.

BTW: Xoops.org is here to stay...
No doubt in my mind at all now...

I hear you, and I'm with the spirit of what you are saying. It never hurts to know the villagers have torches and matches when you are creating a Frankenstein though.

It's going to be up to the folks who use and need the software to keep it alive.

Postnuke went through this EXACT same problem about two years ago or more, and they had one heck of a time getting the program back on track. Some would say that they never did. The few "community spirited" folks who were there LEFT. It's a hard and hostile set of forums to look at the last time I was on their site.

I'm willing to be patient. I'm all for patience. I'll buy it one more time though, and that's about it for me. My business depends on XOOPS because I told them to use it. That makes me a complete idiot if it slides down the tubes. So sure, I have personal reasons for wanting it fast, but I'm a team player. I'll wait and see what you all come up with. It sounds like the committee's heart is in the right place.

We'll see.

and here is the proof...

All pages

I put my wiki work where my mouth is...

I don't think ADDON's and XOOPSWIKI.org is willing to do that. (I know xoopsinfo isn't, the people over there have been advertising - no longer active on xoops.org for a long time now. -- pre DJ I might add)

I believe if they want to bring it over to xoops.org we can find a place for it...

Never doubted you for a minute Darcy!

I'm concerned we're going to have XO for much longer. Sounds like the fighting over servers and backups has begun elsewhere. Oh well, we'll find a home SOMEWHERE if XO goes.

I've always liked your Wiki!

It's time for some righteous indignation on the part of those of us who humbly TRY to help the program along, and who want to approach the XOOPS CMS in a more professional way. It's time for us to call for an ELECTED group to run the XOOPS program, and for ACCOUNTABILITY to be the word of the day.

I fear we'll never see it. I hope we will, but I'm betting we won't.

...

I believe that XOOPS is dead unless it can put together a cognizant plan for going forward in the future. We need leadership. We need organization. We need persistence and understanding. We need to renew our sense of community.

...

So, I'm committed... who else is committed with me?

Dear wingrider101.

This is exactly the way the Proposal Preparation Committee follows (see here and here)

Please be patient as these things are not easy to be done automatically.

@wingrider101

1) I have a lot to learn about XOOPS in general, so I worked on the area that gave me the best background information. The operations manual.

https://xoops.org/modules/mediawiki/index.php/Operation_Manual

I put that into the wiki with links to the areas that relate to user interests, I hope... adding a glossary

https://xoops.org/modules/mediawiki/index.php/Category:Glossary

that Jen had done years ago and updated some of that so that it might be used for giving help in the future when I learn enough to be helpful.

Note in particular the Glossary_T

https://xoops.org/modules/mediawiki/index.php/Glossary_T

There on my own site I am hosting html pages that I hope will be useful in answering technical questions relating to the templates, etc.,

I hope to be able to put the useful portion of the pages on xoops.org as time permits.

There is much that can be done to HELP XOOPS, but it takes a desire, and attitude, as JFK said, what can I do for xoops, not so much what can XOOPS do for me.

With the previous crew, (several of them) comment like this from me would be met with much berating... As if I were downing what they had done. Which isn't true... there is just room for more, ideas and people contributing in their own way.

That is my opinion.

Thanks for being interested...
