Hi! This is a so much asked question. How to enable the Koivi Editor in Xoops 2.2.2, Well here is how to enable the Koivi Editor in custom block editing, you can get the idea from here to implement it in other places, good luck!

In /modules/system/blocks/system_blocks.php
around line 56, you will find the following line:

$form->addElement(new XoopsFormDhtmlTextArea(_MB_SYSTEM_CONTENT, 'options[0]', htmlspecialchars($ts->stripSlashesGPC($options[0]), ENT_QUOTES), 15, 60));

Change it to:

$theEditor = new XoopsFormWysiwygTextArea(array());
$theEditor->setName('options[0]');
$form->addElement($theEditor);

That's pretty much it.

Actually yes, I forgot to mention, you have to include the file:

XOOPS_ROOT_PATH."/class/xoopseditor/koivi/formwysiwygtextarea.php"

And yet another change:

Where you add the line:
$theEditor->setName('options[0]');

You have to add this other line after that one:
$theEditor->setValue(htmlspecialchars($ts->stripSlashesGPC($options[0])));

Otherwise, when you try to edit, it brings you up a white koivi editor.

I wrote this little shell script to help me find constants and classes like that one, if you have shell access to your box, you can use it like this:

ss XOOPS_ROOT_PATH

Save the following in a file named "ss"
and chmod it with execute rights:

There is one more problem.. the formatiing dropdown menus appear as "_XK_FONT" for fonts,"_XK_FONT_SIZE" options as _XK_FONT_SMALL etc for font sizes and similerly for other dropdowns.. Also the Alt Discription for bold, undeline and other buttons appear as _XK_BOLD etc.

The functionality of the Editor is not a problem for formatting but some buttons like insert tables etc donot work!

How can I rectify this please?

I am using XOOPS 2.2.4
I have made all suggested changes but do not see any effect.
What do i need to do to use any Wysiwyg Editor in XOOPS?
Is there any setting i need to changes?

Though from some reson Koivi, as described above is coming up with no lang vars in it's menu's

Seems to be OK!

A nice addon would (I made some tests long ago) be, if you can switch between WYSIWYG- and DHTML-editor.

This would be handy if you want to write PHP-blocks.

Yep - That's what I meant ...

it's a "must" for custum blocks

I'll take a look, but I doubt I'll do it without help...

Yep, I saw that when I started playing with it, but wanted a "real solution" otherwise it could be using the 2.0.x wysiwyg classes ebven in 2.2.x site...

If you'll complete it, I Hope it'll get to the 2.2.5 additions, as a much expected addon !!!
I use custom blocks a lot and it's realy simplify and speed the use of them ....

I integrated a switch so far. If you want to add a custom block you just have to click a link to switch between the editors. Same applies when it comes to editing the custom block.

Is it this what you want? Hope so, because I have no better idea at the moment.

Yep, I use Inbetween as a single editor, so all I need is to choose wysiwyg or dhtml/textarea area ...

No need for a "fancyer" solution for me ... though I think that the core deserve it

Done! This example was made for tinyeditor, but you can easily adapt it. As this is only a quick and DIRTY hack, you'll get two notices about missing index bid. Sorry, I was too lazy to avoid this. I just wanted to have the Pros some work left.

The major drawback about this hack is the fact, that XOOPS 2.2 does not distinguish in the blocks administration between normal blocks and custom blocks, so you get for ALL blocks the possibility for switching the editor when you want to edit the blocks.

EDIT: OOPS! Forgot one thing to tell. Of course you can change the if-statements so that WYSIWYG first choice. Now DHTML is first choice.

can't imagine how I managed without it so far .... so convinyent

and, well Dhtmlarea is logically in the top anyway of course.

I do hope phppp will add all those small hacks (wysiwyg to custom blocks / signature etc' ) to 2.2.5 ....
