you want a list of clickable news titles for just one category, right?

You may be able to use What's new moduleon happy linus site. It's very configurable.

catads, weblinks and xdirectory modules COULD all provide the right solution. But you will need to change some language definitions and maybe templates to get it right.

What you will have difficulty with is the filtering process; for example, you wont be able to offer searches which filter 'City' and 'address', with 'price' by using selectors. I don't know any module that offers that level of search filtering, except as part of the search string of course.

I think weblink on happy-linux will give you the best options. It allows multiple catagories for every entry, which means users will be able to select internal categories to manually filter their views. Also gives automatic google map views taken from zip codes.

Its a very comprehensive module and worth a look. see herehttp://linux2.ohwada.net/

also take a look IBDeeming real estate module

edit: also I just found thishttp://www.torrecanela.com/portal/modules/realty/

=> Tom, almost.. in fact it'shttp://www.google.com/codesearch without the /backslash LOL otherwise it gives a 404

and yes, there are ways to prevent indexing of files and google will respect this (so I believe). The pain in BTM is simply that the onus is now on webmasters to lock down their files and permissions, whereas before we didn't need to do so except for security sensitive files.

Here's a little background from internetnews.com I'm sure there's a lot more out there to fuel the fire.

There's an argument that there will be advantages to this new feature, as developers will be able to search their own code to see whose using it illicitly. Mmm, a two edged sword I think, as source code will be easier to steal in the first place, thanks to the Google concept.

I think the simple answer is no, search engines cannot crawl content that is behind any login requirement.

Let's look into this more closely; Anonymous users group is generally understood to be the users that do not require any logins to view content on your website. That also includes any search engine crawler. So anything that you want to be publically available and crawled by search engines should be in the antonymous users group. Please NOTE most content defaults to registered users group to be viewed and has to be set to the anonymous users group to be viewed publically. This is a security feature and prevents you publishing content publicaly accidentally.

Search engines can't 'login' so they cant view anything that is published ONLY to registered groups or any other user group other than anonymous.

There is just one other caveat that is slightly worrying; Google has recently announced that it is releasing code search. which basically means it will release to searchable results of scripts and code of unprotected directories!

So be aware, that if this intrusion goes ahead with Google you should always put 'private content into a database (via XOOPS permissions) or password protect your HTML directories that contain private content.

The google thing is going to make a big storm over the internet generally, but providing you use XOOPS content permissions system, your pretty safe.

Thank-you for your important question, it will be FAQd

Hope that helps

After more tests, it appears to work ok on a local install, so Im guessing there is something specific to the production server. Anyone know of a server setting that might do this?

Im unable to get the content module .5 (Davici, Ben Brown) to work with 2.0.16

The problem is that after a correct installation I cant add content. The input fields are not displayed, regardless of WYSIWYG or xoopsform option set.

Has anyone else had this problem? is there a fix. I use this module on all my sites and really need to resolve this if possible

No debug messages

Thank-you

Today I logged in to find my messages inbox empty of messages. Everyone was gone.

Have we had a glitch here? or has there been a wild cleanup?

I always thought PMs were pretty safe so there was some important material amongst these.

Thank-you Marco. Be assured those who work hard to make XOOPS a better place are seen and well appreciated. Sometimes one has to step forward, to be provocative, to stir the muddy waters in order to maintain the energy of change. My thread here is only intended for the benefit of xoops, but be assured, I will press forward with this, maybe against popularity, untill I see XOOPS receive the recognition it deserves.
