Wow. Using 1.09 (stable).
Thx so much. Great Module.

I found it required some experimenting to know which admin selections affected which blocks, but the results were outstanding. Also got a little confused by some of the language (english), so I did my best to sort that out and have sent you a link with those edits via pm. Hope you find those helpful.

Where is the 'extra field' to (potentially) use a PayPal button located? How would I edit that?

I have exactly the same issue as bumpeboy...
I can change the module name in module admin (edit and tab out), but it does not save (if I leave module admin and return), and there is no 'submit' or 'update' button to save it manually on the module admin page.

I have the same issue; same error adding 3 key templates.
I tried installing with the default template. but got the same error.

I am now using 2.3.3. This has happened with a couple of modules that worked well before 2.3 (with protector installed)
I'm wondering how it is related? permissions?

thank you ghia,
thank you sarahmx,

I have not been as lucky as sarahmx. I tried to install without the protector fix (which I had interpreted as 'overwrite' mainfile.dist.php, so I renamed it to mainfile.dist.php after copying from extras).
Still no luck... in fact I discovered something even stranger;
I can get to Step#7 screen now, but I bump into a blank page at Step#8 (error 500). So I examined the mainfile.php and found that no values were written to it. (and everything is writable)
So I added the values I wanted to the mainfile.dist.php and that got me through Step#7 to Step#8, but the wizard is now complaining that it cant write the avatar to the db.

This is all very puzzling as I have other XOOPS sites running on the same server (including one running 2.30), and it seems pretty obvious what permissions are needed where.

excuse my brain fart, but help!

P.S. for ghia
"(In general Apache is easier and runs also on Windows eg XAMPP)"
May be true, but I couldn't easily setup multiple sites, and not all my webs are XOOPS/PHP, hence IIS, which allows for all the flavours I do use.)

thx ghia,
wiped directories at www and databse,
added 2.32b htdocs and did protector fix (mainfile.dist.php)
renamed xoops_dirs to ????_dirs

added root to administrators
reset permissions in OS
created datadir and added IWAM and root at parent with full permissions(MySQL\Data diirectory)

reset permissions in IIS; added write enabled at cache, templates_c,uploads and ????_data and subdirs.
added write to mainfile.php

install gets thru Step#7 (configsave)
hits error #500 at Step#8 (tablescreate)
although db.opt has been written)

is there a protector edit that I am missing?

I have exactly the same problem. "Could not copy the distribution file to mainfile.php"

I have tried a clean install with protector and without.

mainfile.php is writeable.

running IIS on SBS2003

Thank you hackbrill,
apparently my 'find it' skills have eroded.
Also found a useful guide in the faq (go figure), athttps://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=193

thanks again

Hey simsjaj,
probably too late to be meaningful, and I am no expert, but it seems you have omitted the database files in your migration.
While I'm not certain this has anything to do with the mainfile.php issue you described, that omission will certainly leave your web unuseable.
I am also looking for a comprehensive doc which describes the entire process of migrating XOOPS webs to a new server and I have not found one yet.
If you read this, and have found a solution, please let me know.

Problem solved:
After the patient support of a friend, who prompted me to repeat each step of the installation process, I have discoverd that the MySQLi extension cannot be used as a substitute for the MySQL extension on an Intel box running SBS2003.
When I loaded the proper extension in the php.ini file everything worked as advertised,
duh!

thanks for all the well intentioned emails.
