User Manual
© 2018 XOOPS Project (www.xoops.org)
Module Purpose
This module, xLanguage (eXtensible Multi-language content and character encoding Management plugin) handles displaying contents of different languages, like English, French and Chinese. Character encoding management also handles contents of different encoding sets for one language, like GB2312 (Chinese Simplified) and BIG5 (Chinese Traditional) for Chinese.
What xLanguage CAN do
Download/Fork the Module ![](https://xoops.org/images/forkit.png)
What xLanguage can NOT do
1 xLanguage does NOT have the ability of translating content from one language to another one. You have to input contents of various languages by yourself 2 xLanguage does NOT work without adding one line to XOOPS/include/common.php (see guide below) 3 xLanguage does NOT have the ability of converting content from one character encoding to another if none of "iconv", "mb_string" or "xconv" is available.
Features
1 auto-detection of visitor's language on his first visitor 2 memorizing users' language preferences 3 switching contents of different languages/encoding sets on-fly 4 supporting M-S-M mode for character encoding handler

Module Purpose
This module is especially developed for the translators of XOOPS modules and core.
Besides a lot of advantages Transifex have the disadvantage that you have to download the translated files one by one.
You have to create the necessary folders yourself and you have to partially rename the files and to save them in the right folders.
This module is:
- downloading translations from Transifex
- renaming the files if necessary
- creating the folder structure
- saving the files in the forseen folder
- creating a zip-file
Therefore downloaded files can be easily provided as a language package.

Module XoopsHeadline
for XOOPS 2.5.7
User Manual
© 2016 XOOPS Project (www.xoops.org)
Module Purpose
“XOOPS Headlines” module allows you to display RSS/XML news feeds from other websites. A news feed is a file summarizing elements of a site’s content, a service commonly provided by dynamic websites. Linking to the feed allows you to display ‘headlines’ and other content from the remote site on your own that will update automatically as the remote site changes. This module is typically used as a news aggregator or syndication tool.
Note that the XOOPS core system generates its own built in RSS feed, accessible from https://www.yourdomain.com/backend.php. Some XOOPS modules generate additional module-specific feeds.

Module Protector
for XOOPS 2.5.7

© 2016 XOOPS Project (www.xoops.org)
Module Purpose
Protector is a very useful module that can help improve the security of your XOOPS site, and is widely regarded as a ‘must have’ module for all XOOPS websites. Protector is capable of defending against:
- Some kinds of denial of service (DOS) attacks, bandwidth-hungry crawlers and spambots.
- SQL injection, variable contamination, null bytes, session hijacking, and some kinds of cross-site scripting.
- Brute force attacks and directory traversals.
- Uploading of camouflaged image files and executables.
- Link and comment spammers.
Protector logs the attacking IPs and offers a range of countermeasures including IP bans, blank screens and automatic sanitisation of attempted injections etc. Protector also evaluates your site for certain vulnerabilities and providing warnings about them through a ‘security advisory’ page, and provides instructions on how to fix them.

Module rwBanner
for XOOPS 2.5.7
User Manual
© 2015 XOOPS Project (www.xoops.org)
Module Purpose
This module is for managing and showing random banners, that can be used or not together with the default XOOPS banner system.
Figure 1: Main view of the rwBanner Module (Admin side)
Key Features
- Registering of banners separated by categories and clients. The categories are used to differnciate the size of the banners so that you can create several banner exhibition models. The clients are users registered at your site and when you add a banner you have to associate a banner with one of the registered users.
- 5 block models to show cloneable banners and with several configurations, allowing the administrator choose how many random banners he wants to show, which category should be shown and further, the option to create a table for the banner exhibition having only to select in how many columns they should be shown.
- Statistics block for the client. In this block is shown a table with the main statistics of all the banners related to the client.
- Activation and deactivation option of banners by one click. Only active banners will be shown but the inactive ones continue registered in the database, allowing you to reactivate them at any time.
- Beyond the banners exhibition blocks it is also possible to use the random banner in the theme of your site or in any other page you wish, having only to add the <{$rw_banner}> tag (this feature requires a small hack in the xops core that will be explained in the installation instructions below).
- Statistics page for the client. In the main page of the module is a table with all the statistics of the banners for the logged client. Further, in this page the client has the option to send the banner statistics for his registered e-mail.
- Showing or not random banners in the text of other modules. Now you can show your banners in any module that accepts bbcodes. You can publish banners in news, articles, static pages, including in any forum posts. (this feature requires a small hack in the xops core that will be explained in the installation instructions below).

User Manual
© 2016 XOOPS Project (www.xoops.org)
Module Purpose
SmartFAQ, as you would probably have guessed it by the name, is a Frequently Asked Questions system for XOOPS 2.5.7 web sites. Compared to other FAQ modules, SmartFAQ offers exciting functionalities that will help communities to quickly and easily build a complete FAQ system for their sites. Here is some of the features of SmartFAQ :
- Users can request a Q&A
- Accepted requests are published in the Open Questions section.
- Users can see, in the Open Questions section, the questions that are yet unanswered.
- Users can propose answers to these questions.
- When an answer is approved, the Q&A is published in the Q&A section.
- Each Q&A can have other information like a 'Did you know?' and 'How do I?' statement.
- These statements can be randomly displayed in blocks, along with a link for the complete answer.
- Q&A can be linked to a specific module or a specific URL.
- If such a link is made, the Contextual Q&A block will display contextual Q&A relatively to where the user is on your site.
- At any time, users can submit a better answer for a Q&A that already has an answer. This newly submitted answer will obviously need to be approved by a moderator.

Introduction
Debugging XOOPS With FirePHP/Firebug
for XOOPS 2.5.7
User Manual
(c) 2016 XOOPS Project (www.xoops.org)
Document Purpose
As defined in Wikipedia, "Debugging is a methodical process of finding and reducing the number of bugs, or defects, in a computer program or a piece of electronic hardware, thus making it behave as expected. Debugging tends to be harder when various subsystems are tightly coupled, as changes in one may cause bugs to emerge in another."
XOOPS is a complex PHP script, and therefore when new features are added, there is always a risk that they will introduce new bugs, or break some old code.
Therefore debugging is a very important activity for every XOOPS developer.
Note: for this tutorial as a Test Server we are using WAMP Server from: https://www.wampserver.com/, a free and Open Source web development environment on Windows. It allows you to create web applications with Apache, PHP and the MySQL database. It also comes with PhpMyAdmin to easily manage your databases.

XOOPS Docs Process
How to write XOOPS Documentation using GitHub and GitBook
XOOPS was always known for a very good code, good architecture, and its modular approach, but we were never able to create good documentation.
With the recent technological advances, especially around GitHub, we believe we have now found tools that will help us to:
a) streamline the process and make it more efficient b) engage the community by leveraging the same "forking and submitting pull requests" process as they they user at the normal coding activities.

Author: Brutalicuss support@eunion.info
This theme looks like any other, my first - xsimplegrid, but its really quite different
- there is smart fast menu with almost automated links to our instaled modules, user login or not, new messages, admin menu link
- there is simple top sliders for home and content pages
- parallax image between top and bottom blocks
- as usual background sliders for system and contents
- little breadcrumb over contents
- automated custom banner if system banner is off
- as usual fine social and search fields at the bottom
- OK and most important - mani, mani different blocks configuration:
The is 25 possible, different top (bottom) block configuration on the template, 12 bottom (top) and 5 for footer blocks (see usage.txt and screenshots in docs folder, also you can view now in the demo - gallery)
The theme is clean for W3 validation, simple to use for own projects and as I believe looks modern and 100% responsive for mobile and tablets.

Shareaholic support
Previously, social sharing links through Shareaholic were automatically enabled. These are now optional and disabled by default. To enable Shareaholic support follow these steps:
- Visit https://shareaholic.com to create an account and register your site
- Take note of the Site Id code Shareaholic assigns to your site
- Open the template file tpl/shareaholic-script.tpl in your editor
- Replace the n/a in this line
<{assign var='siteId' value='n/a'}>
with the Site Id Shareaholic assigned to you, and save the file
You can customize how Shareaholic interacts with your site in the Site Tools
Dashboard on shareaholic.com. You may want to create an Inline App Location
on that page to customize the Share Buttons. These buttons will be shown in
templates such as modules/publisher/publisher_item.tpl with this line:
<div class='shareaholic-canvas' data-app='share_buttons' data-app-id=''></div>
