Helpful infomation you should provide while asking for assistance:

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34

Check your database settings in mainfile.php

database name
database password

These must match database access settings on your server.

Make sure your database name has the correct and full name; ie if you created a database called "xoops2" many hosts require the full name to be inputted to access this database, so the name will be "something_xoops2" "Something" is often your host account user name used as a prefix.

Page with internal error after Apache upgrade

My case is similar in the sense that I also received the message:
"This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance."

Yet the cause is slightly different. I had a working environment. Than I acted kind of stupid; I upgraded my Apache server very rigid using LAMP Apache2Triad(.net). Afterwards I realised the complete directory mysql\data was wiped out. I restored mysql\data\myxoops and granted the same rights for the mysql client user I used before.

I hoped to see myxoops site again; but receive the above mentioned error instead. Any help, suggestions, hints or comments are highly appreciated!

Configuration: Win XP Pro SP2, Apache 2.0.54, MySQL 4.1.14, Perl5.8.7, PHP5.0.4, XOOPS 2.0.14.

Re: Page with internal error after Apache upgrade

I have recieved the same message:

Quote:

"This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

at first I thought I had killed the database, but since the error didn't mention any connection problem, I turned on the debug and found it was an error of code in the theme because I had erased some code and had left a leftover <{/if}> .
I think it's because the Smarty is now smarter that it detects this lose code .

Anyways, your problem could or could not be different, this is just the experience I had using XOOPS version 2.0.14.

How did you manage to change the theme since the database wasn't running? I have really no clue how to solve it for my situation, other than to start all over again?

Re: Page with internal error after Apache upgrade

the database was always ok, and the debug I turned on using phpmyadmin and that's how I found it was a code error in the theme, and the theme I repaired it with an html editor, and the error went away.

Re: Page with internal error after Apache upgrade

I just found out that defining in general setting file phpmain the user without password and defining in MySql defining the user with a password causes to display the internal error message.

Re: Page with internal error after Apache upgrade

Can anybody tell me how I can change this error message?

I am running my website on a VPS and very often my msyql server gets down coz of load probelms.

so I want ppl to see a different message once that happens instead of this boring XOOPS message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx
