International Support Team Formed

We are happy to announce that we have formed a XOOPS International Support Team. This team, comprised of Webmasters of XOOPS Local Support Sites, will work on:

- improving XOOPS international support around the world
- exchanging information about local issues
- improving globalization/translations of XOOPS
- define a translation process for local translations teams
- define needed translation tools
- define translation requirements for XOOPS, so the local teams have an easier job doing the translations
- improving sharing of Best Practices
- create a "Tool Kit" for new XOOPS International Support Websites
- create a process to feed back to XOOPS local innovations and ideas. There are cool local modules or themes, but the world doesn't know it because the author is not fluent in English.

This team will be coordinated by Runeher. We are extremely happy to have him on the XOOPS team - he is one of the new and dedicated XOOPS supporters, who are discovering XOOPS and are jumping on board to help! Within a very short time, he was able to team up with other Nordic countries, create a Xoops Nordic Website, a central hub and a gateway to that region, and all of this, while creating some really cool modules. With more people like him, XOOPS will have indeed a very bright future!

About Runeher (Rune Hauge):

He was born in in Norway, but now he works as a web designer and artist from his farm in Denmark.

Rune discovered XOOPS around 3 Years ago after trying out other CMS for a while, and fell completely in love with it because of its user backend simplicity. He uses XOOPS mostly for all new clients as long as the client doesn't disagree, which has never happend yet

He is self-taught and uses different script languages within XOOPS including PHP, Java, Flash among others, when developing new sites.

He is co-webmaster for Xoops Nordic, Xoops Norway, Xoops Sweden and Xoops Finland.

In his free time, when he doesn't work on XOOPS, Rune likes to train his five rottweiler dogs, work on his farm, remaking it to a castle for him and his wife, and he loves to play paintball, not because there are guns involved, but because it's great fun! He also likes scuba diving, horseback riding and he can't live without watching TV football (or soccer in USA).

Return of the Jedi (Onokazu)

We are extremely happy to announce that Onokazu, the Founder of XOOPS is returning to XOOPS

He will be joining us as the very first member of our newly established XOOPS Advisory Board!

The XOOPS Advisory Board will include respected and well known individuals, who will be helping us with strategic direction for XOOPS.

And we couldn't think of anybody more deserving to be the first member of the XOOPS Advisory Board than the Founder of XOOPS - Onokazu!

In his response to our invitation, Onokazu stated:

Quote:
You guys seem to be doing great recently, and I would like to help the project in any way I can if possible.

We strongly believe that no project can be truly successful without recognizing the role of past Founders, so this is a very happy time for us to get re-united with Onokazu.

Creating the XOOPS Advisory Board is just one of the many things that we are working on to make XOOPS the best CMS around, and with all of the XOOPS community members working together, we can certainly look forward to a very bright future for XOOPS.

May the Source be with you!!!

Catzwolf joining the XOOPS Development Team

We are very happy to announce that Catzwolf is officially joining the XOOPS Development Team.

He is a brilliant developer, author of countless XOOPS modules, and we are extremely happy to have him back with us.

Please extend a warm "welcome back" to John.

With this we would like to officially extend an invitation to all past, non-active XOOPS developers to come back and join us on the journey of making XOOPS the best CMS in the world. We are sure that while away you've learned a lot of new things and programming tricks, from which XOOPS could benefit. We've had couple of rough years, but we believe that we are now on track to something really awesome, and we would like you to be part of it.

dev.xoops.org is open for developers

We are pleased to announce that our development site, http://dev.xoops.org is open for business.

As most of you know, it was damaged by malicious hackers last year, and it took us some time to repair it. We believe, it's now working, but if you find any problems, please let us know.

We would like to thank all the people who supported us in the transition, installation, and testing of the dev.xoops.org site.

And to all of XOOPS users and supporters - we very much appreciate your patience, while we were working on that.

We are working hard on getting XOOPS where it should be, and going live with dev.xoops.org is only one of many things that we are working on. Let's just review some of the recent activities:

- several updates to Core
- XOOPS 2.3 Alpha 3 will be released VERY SOON
- WOX (World of XOOPS) newsletter reactivated
- XOOPSer of the Month Award reactivated
- International Support Team has been formed
- there are a lot of activities there, with several new Support Sites being formed and active
- we have new promotional items, incl. wallpapapers, flash banners, and screensavers
- module repository is being refreshed and will contain all available modules for XOOPS 2. Going live very soon.
- Modules Team coming soon
- we are focusing on spreading "good news" about XOOPS, about Awards and recognitions

There will be more good news coming soon, and we hope that together we'll look for ways what we all as a community and each and every one of us individually can contribute to XOOPS to make it the best CMS it can be.

Once again, your patience, your support, and your positive contributions, are very much appreciated!

XOOPS changes its theme to Zetagenesis

It's always important to walk the talk, so today we're switching to Zetagenesis Theme, which is one of the standard themes that we'll be delivering with the Core.

This theme will be also utilized across different XOOPS sites, so we can achieve consistent look and feel for our users.

If there are any problems with the theme, or if you have any improvement suggestions, please let us know.

Enjoy the new look of the new XOOPS

Video Tube Update v1.1

Video Tube v1.1 is scheduled to be released on Monday, April 28, 2008 and is currently being field tested. It contains some bug fixes such as administrator edit function not working and some blocks appearing twice based on certain templates. The major change is that all module templates and database interaction functions have been updated so the module works with XOOPS 2.0.16 and up PLUS it is now compatible with XOOPS 2.2.x sites. One new feature has been added so Registered User's Submissions can be Auto Approved.

Video Tube is an XOOPS module that is part of CVD's KISS modules. KISS stands for Keep It Simple Series. The module provides the ability to manage YouTube videos and display them on your site taking advantage of the video embedding feature available through YouTube.

The module provides configurable display formats, user submission interface, admin interface for reviewing and publishing videos, six different blocks including Random, Most Viewed and Latest, and a Video Help page to assist visitors in making video submissions.

Jobs 3.0 RC3 released

I have released RC3.
I have fixed all the errors reported on my site(http://www.jlmzone.com), plus some others.
I have also added some extra security in the code, which makes it necessary to upgrade to this version.
If you are upgrading from 3.0 RC2 you don't need to use the upgrade script, but all other versions need to run the upgrade script.

To run the upgrade script point your browser to:
yoursite/modules/jobs/admin/upgrade.php

You need to be logged in as admin to run this script. If you are not sure, run the script, it can't hurt.

I have also fixed the resume search function, but it requires a very small core hack. You can find the hack in the forums on my site, look for 'resume search hack'.

You can find the module HERE.

Report any errors HERE.

Thanks,

John

Resized Image

We are making Xoops Nordic... a portal for local Xoops sites in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland...

It will serve as a central hub for all XOOPS users in those countries, syndicating news and information from our local sites, so users can see what's happening around them up north...

We need a Finnish user with some experience to join our team... If you are interested please pm Runeher or anderssk
