I really appreciate the effort and elegant design of your themes. And I am pleased to no end that you share them with us. Well done!
But, and you deserve our registration before we can download, I only get lots of "?" on your web site instead of legible text? So my registration attempts fail and I can't read the prompts to see what I'm doing wrong!

So do that and it will be a lot more clearer. (If you understand Japs and Chinese at least, LOL)

I also don't know Chinese or whatever language that site is in and I think it is unfair (to say the least) to advertise something to international audience and then requiring people to register in Chinese. You are quite good at designing themes but you should rethink your PR.

This should not be any excessive thing , moreover it is free to download. Just because you don't like the way he set up the download of his theme, you can't just go deep-linking to files on his server without his consent. This is very bad manners. If I where him, I'd change the file location an set up an anti-leech script right away to protect myself against this kind of bandwidth-theft. 
The proper way to do this is:
- Download the files through the channel the author provides.
- Check the license to see if the author allows redistribution of his theme (in this case there is no license, so we can surmise it is under the GPL like the rest of Xoops).
- Upload the files to your own webspace and put a link to that in the forum, in a comment to this story, and if possible submit it to the downloads here on site.

Re: IMAGO THEME 03 IS DONEI don't think it is unfair, if you are familier with Xoops, as we can reasonably suppose (you are interested in a XOOPS theme) it is not so difficult to do the registration even if you don't read chinese. People are not obliged to offer an english interface for everything.
Thank you maclinks for sharing such great design with us, I would like to summerize your wills for those who don't read chinese:
"I put this theme for sharing with XOOPS community just for fun and I would like to have an exact number of persons who will be interested (and who will download this theme), your post (AndyB's) is unfair, though I will not alter the links you haved published I would like that the people here just ignore them and continue to do the normal way. I am not advertizing here, I just tell you there is a free theme..."

first of all deep linking is legal - even in Germany.
And if someone puts something for download and it is not password protected then I don't see anything bad in providing a direct link. Especially if said someone advertises in English but then requires that people learn Chinese in order to register on his site.
Maybe we have different prospective on manners in the Internet, but I'll stick to mine if you don't mind.

Re: IMAGO THEME 03 IS DONEI never said it was illegal, which it isn't. This is just a matter of nettiquette.
Anyone can use their bandwidth and their server space as they seem fit. If someone requires a registration before you can download from their site, you should respect that decision. Putting a direct link to a download that is not on your own server without the owners approval is leeching and is considered bad manners, not only by me but by lots of other people too. Some even find themselves forced to write or use anti-leech-scripts against such practices.
So if you want to provide a download link to some resource, you should host it on your own space and bandwidth.

Your themes are currently the best and cleanest for XOOPS at the current time. You have set the standard!

How to hell am I suppose to find any of the stuff I would like to download? Well at lease write THEMES so people can fint it. Excuse like not good to English are just sory to say but "crap". I strongly disagree with idea of useing some web page to translate web page to something I understand. If I have to use 30 minutes to translate web page in order to find a link to download theme, well forget it. This guy is excellent designer, but hey, messing arround with his site is not worth that theme set.
Bandwidth? Oh Bunny be serious, why do you advertise your work if no one can download it coz you have bandwidth limit? What's the point of it? If they have problem w/ bandwidth, they can open an free hosting and store files there, and just simply link 'em.
There is something much more deep in this than a bandwidth.

All i get when i download the imago03.rar file is a folder full of odd files and no instructions on how to install the theme.

I'm not talking about someone not serving me well, it's general issue. You want to advertise to English speaking audience? Fine, then provide us understandable interface. I've spent whole hour trying to find theme to download from that site, and couldn't find it. Is that serving? I don't think so.
1/5 of Earth population speaks Chinese. Fine. I'm not in that 1/5.
As I said before, that guy is GURU in design, but if he wants us (non Chinese population on the Earth) to go on his site, register, download so he could use statistics, then he could at least leave us possibility to chose interface language if not whole page.

But somebody who want to get it are lazy to take a minute to register and download it. It's not difficult if you know about xoops.
I am sorry to see such arrogence and laziness in this comunity of xoops.

I normally don't post responses these kinds of messages, but your comments have me puzzled Your posts are inarguably inflammatory and self-serving and do nothing to help this community. In internet terms I would call you a "troll" - someone who just posts on boards to make everyone angry. I am hoping you are not.
As an INTERNATIONAL community, we have to realize that some pages will be in French, German, Chinese, English, Japanese, etc. If it involves you doing an extra hour of work to get something free - then that's what you have to do. Why would you want to discourage someone who is making such great themes for YOU to use?
I am not an administrator or anything but I am asking you to please keep your comments civil and constructive. I'm not saying you can't post commments related to your desire to have pages translated into English - just do it in a way where people will understand and respect the points you are trying to make.

Re: IMAGO THEME 03 IS DONEOk, lets try third time, and hopefuly last time on this issue. No one (at least myself) is not trying to discourage author of this theme. His work is more than excellent, we're talking here on how to get his work in order to use it. Visiting pages in French, German, or whatever is totaly different from visting pages in Chinese. Damn big difference. Main reason for having language dropdown menu or flags instead is so that people who don't speak particular language can understand portal interface, and not spend hours tryuing to figur out error messages or something else written in symbols. I think it's much easier to setup a free hosting and place theme for download and setup counter on files in you need statistics and have registrictions on download on your own web page, then for other people to spend hours translating Chinese.
I use XOOPS on two different pages that are in language other than English, but still have language menu so people can at least have interface in language they understand.
I will never agree with fact that I have to install additional IE support to display Chinese symbols, and beside that have to translate whole page in order to get something. He is author of the theme, it should be in his interest that people use his themes, that's pretty clear.

Sada na internetu ima oko 50 besplatnih portala, konkurencija je jako velika, prema tome nema razloga trositi dragocijeno vrijeme na dumanje sta znaci neki od kineskih simbola. To je svima jasno. Evo gospodo, svakako vam nije problem trositi vrijeme na prevode, pa prevedite ovo sto ovdje pise i skontat cete sustinu problema. Nemam namjeru dalje diskutovati na ovu temu, jer je besmisleno. Ja se licno nikada necu sloziti sa ovim.

I found my way through the chinese and have made the themes available on ModsCentral.
I agree with your point about communications though... es ist sehr schwer wenn man solch eine sprache nicht kennt. Es war genau so bei mir... ich war nur ein bischen gluecklich.
