Myself and Dawilby have modified Kuht.it's excellent Spotlight module for xoops 2.0.x. This module creates a block where a given news article is put in the spotlight: with an optional extra image the intro text is shown. Demo and download on the xoops module development team website: www.modules.xoops2.com.

This module has the following features:
- Create a block displaying the intro text of a given news article
- Add a custom image to the spotlighted article block
- Control look and feel through block template
- Display other recent news below spotlighted item
- Admin lenth ot titles through block admin
- Admin order and number of other recent news items displayed.

The comments are owned by the author. We aren't responsible for their content.

This is part of what I once called "the ideal news block". I've already applied to Punto flotante after tampering a bit with the template to adapt it to the general style of the site. Great work, guys!

Small error fix:

In the template file, change


<{if $block.image != ""}>

<img src="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/spotlight/images/<{$block.image}>">

<{else}>

<img src="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/news/images/topics/<{$block.image_display}>">

<{/if}>

into


<{if $block.image != ""}>

<img src="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/spotlight/images/<{$block.image}>">

<{elseif $block.image_display !=""}>

<img src="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/news/images/topics/<{$block.image_display}>">

<{/if}>

changing the <{else}> statement. This will fix a bug in the image display (not displaying the topic image correctly).

Sorry but this module is no longer under developed by the WF-Project Team. We are currently developing a module like this but more powerfull.
