FreeContent but modernized with Smarty, Xoops comments feature, Search and also a Tutorial for using it. The Data base structure is not changed so you can backup your settings and reuse it.

CJcontent would be more appropriate if you want an editor to be built-in but I just can't stop using FreeContent as I am so accustomed to it. And I release it as a nostalgic alternative

It is ok to make a new version of freecontent and I hope you have the permission of the old Freecontent developer like I do.
But it is not ok to make suggestion to whom C-JAY Content is more appropriate.
Let the User decide, since the editor is not the only difference.

Pardon the ignorance, but for those of use who are new to this topic, what exactly is FreeContent? Is there a demo or screenshots or manual anywhere? Curious minds....

a) Since the old FreeContent module was released under the GPL, no permission is needed to distribute improved/modified versions.

b) Discussing the relative benefits of one module over the other is more than appropriate for a website like this. Discussions like this help the user make a decision. You are welcome to comment on the other differences beside the editor.

c) Even though you gave your module a new name, it is still a modification of FreeContent, so it is not ok under the terms of the GPL to remove the original author's copyright notice from the files and replace it with your own.

Ok, this does not really belong to here, but I am curious.

to 1) maybe the Permission is not needed, I think nobody likes to have his ideas "stolen". So in my opinion asking of permission is just a matter of good behaviour. I do not like this you do not have to so there is not a need to do it.

to 2) It wasn't a discussion. It was just told that C-JAY Content has an Online Editor and that would be the only reason to use it. Again, it is a matter of good behaviour just to talk about your own stuff and not about other's.

to 3)Maybe you are right here. I thought it would be enough to mention the fact that C-JAY Content is based on old freecontent somewhere inside the module. I did so in the first Version. Maybe I should read the GPL more closly when I have time.

Right click on the link, and use "save target as". It's a single PHP file.
