in my version (xoops 2.5.4), it works. It's equal, wether I click on the pencil or on 'submit' in the main menu.
But two things:
1) Editing event: dropdown timezone is empty
2) I defined a color for each category, but in the calendar there is no change, each event has the same color

First of all, thanks a lot for your German translation, we will add it soon.
2)
To answer your question about the keys, it is because the module is based on piCal and it can import data from an installed piCal module. For that reason, we didn't want to remove anything from the table structure to be sure the data are compatible.
The main reason for "triple" keys is because the original piCal module allows users to clone it by adding 1,2 or 3 to the module folder name and it create these keys for the clones. These keys are not important (except the ones without a number) and you can remove them if you want.
3)
Now, for your problem with categories colors. As you can put multiple categories to an event, only the one selected as the main category will show its color. So you must select a main category for your events.
Also, to allow a category to be listed in the main categories dropdown, you must check this option (Use as a main category) in the category editing form.
4)
For the timezone dropdown, it is also an option to use different timezone or not for events. By default, you don't have the choice for the timezone for events, but you can put it on in the preferences menu.

We have tried with Xoops 2.4.4 and with the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, IE7-9 (Compatibility mode).
We were able to add an event and select a date with the date picker by clicking on the calendar icon.
Maybe you don't have the javascript plugin correctly installed in your Xoops installation. Try to copy the "common" folder from our package into the webroot of your website (or its content if the common folder already exists).
If it doesn't work give us some feedbacks and we will try to solve your issue.

They were already there in the original piCal module and the only place they appear in the code is when inserting an event. But it is always empty. I think they were there in case we want to add extensions to the events.

I sent you a PM with a download link of my modification for online registration to an event.
Basic infos:
- you can activate online registration for each event seperat or not
- events are marked with a red flag, if online registration is active
- automatic redirect to activation, if you create a new event and select online registration
- Edit settings of online registration in edit mode of event
- possible settings for online registration:
maximum number of participants (0 = no limit)
deadline for registration
e-Mail-address of persons, which should be informed about (de-)registrations (max. 5 emails)
- data of registration: first name, last name, email, optionally 5 extra info fields
- show a list of participants (only persons, who can edit the event)
- mass-email to all registrated participants (if email is available)
- online registration is only for registered members possible (of cause, registered members can registrate other persons)
- persons, who made the registration can also edit/delete registration later
If you or the community wish to implement it, I/we should add some options to module preferences, maybe make rights adjustable and so on.

I went to your website and i sawed that you had the 2.0.4 version so after download and unpacking in xoops_version.php it still says version 2.0.3 !
So im now confused wich one is correct ?

First, the package you've download is the 2.0.4. We just forgot to change it in the xoops_version file. It is now online with the good version.
For your category problem, We've tried with the latest version of APCal and Xoops 2.5.4, and it works fine. So can you describe more precisely your problem? What are the steps you made to add a category?

We've tried with the latest version on our site:
We added an event with url, but when we click on it in the calendar, it brings us to the event's page on our site. Then you can click the website if you want to.
If you can give us more details about the issue it will be appreciated.

- Wich link did you click when this happens? On wich page?
Also, if you can provide us your website url so we can see the issue, it will be appreciated. You can send it in private message if you don't want everybody to see it.
For the timezones, there is an option to remove them in the preferences.
If you still want to edit the form, it is in modules/APCal/class/APCal.php and the function is get_schedule_edit_html( ) on line 2365
Re: APCal module news: 2.03I use ApCal 2.0.4 on a new Xoops 2.5.4 Site, which is yet under development.
There a two (little) problems on my site (even with the default theme!):
- thumbnails should be shown on the right side of google-map in event-detail, but they don't. There is only a small, vertical line among each other for each uploaded event-picture. A click on the line shows the picture.
- In list-view event-id is lost on location-markers in google-map. It works eg. in month-view

What is happening when the page loads?
Maybe your server doesn't allow you to get a js file from out of your server?

Unfortunatly, we are unable to replicate the issue on any of our servers.
We are using the phpThumb plugin to make thumbs. It uses the GD or ImageMagick library.
Maybe you don't have one of those installed on your server?
Otherwise, you can go on their website and search for help.

For Goffy's hack, he already sent his code to us and we are planning to include it in the module. He also made the german translation that we include in the module.

Great work already.
1) If you edit e.g. an event in july, after saving you will be redirected to monthly view of actual month. It would be fine, if you are redirected in this case to monthly view of july.
2) If you want to search for geo position and you have a location, which does not give back a position at once, you get first the error "ZERO_RESULTS". This you have to confirm, than enter new location name and click on search. Is it possible to change the error text into e.g. "No data found for actual location"
3) Do you plan to reimplement minicalendar_ex?
4) Can I help you with implementing online registration, creating module preferences,...?
Do you have a svn directory or anything equal?
5) My actual hack of 2.0.4. you can download via link, I sended you in past (in first version there was a bug in ro_convertcontact.php)

But for your info: GD is activated on my site and phpthumb is filling up xoops_cache directory with image-files, so it seems to be active.
The issue with the missing or wrong event_id in list-view appears also on your page

1) We also noticed that it will be great to return to the saved month after a new submission. So it's in for the next version.
2) The ZERO_RESULTS error is generated by google, we can and we will change the error message to something more readable.
3) We are not sure what you want exactly for the minical_ex block. Is there any bug on your website? Do you want something special? Because we checked that block and it's working fine on our server.
4) We are currently testing your new feature "online registration" and it's really great. Can you send us the fix for the bug you found in ro_convertcontact.php?

For the thumbs bug, as we cannot see the error, it is difficult for us to help you. We are using the same GD library version as Goffy (Bundled 2.0.34) and we don't have ImageMagick installed. It is supposed to work better with every GD version greater than 2.0.0 Bundled.
We tested it on a local windows computer, a linux dedicated server and a linux shared server. It was working fine on the three.
Maybe you can post on phpthumb forum and let us know about your results, it will be great. We will also check for another tool that will work better.

Finally, every of the above (except the bug fix for thumbs) will be in the next version. We are planning to release it this week.
Goffy, please send us your bug fix for your new feature, it will be great.

Some ideas:
At the moment you can find the skin in folder "images". What do you think about put them in separate folder "skins", because than it would be possible to make in module preferences a listbox with all foldernames in skinfolder for selection (like it is handled with themes)
From my side it took some time to understand, how the skins work, so it would be fine, if we can provide different skins only by clicking on an list.
At the moment the templates/skins for yearly, monthly, weekly and daily view you can find in skinfolder (e.g. images/default)
Only list view is in folder templates. Would it be possible to put list view also in skinfolder.

ro_contacthandler.php is only neccessary, if you want to replace contact name by a link to a member account in event details. It is not nessecary for online registration.
If you want to put it out, delete lines 38-47 and 2277 in APCal.php
If you want to use it, we should (de)activate it with a module preference.
In the new download I have also corrected some typing errors in german language files. Please take them for next version.

I have been playing with APCal 2.1 and have come across a bug.
When selecting the monthly calender view everything works fine ie it displays
Category title
Category Description
Google Map
and the calender
but when I choose the event list view the category title is not displayed. So the display is like:
Category description
Google Map
Sort order
List of events
This is also true for the demo

I found another bug:
If you are editing/creating an event and you click on calendar button besides startdate or enddate, the calendar pops up. If you then click on a day, not the date is written in textbox, there will be written 12-mm-dd instead. Its the same with english language files, so it is not depending to the formats in language file.

new features:
added new preferences for online registration
added new preference for contact handler
new permission for online registration (add participant to event, show list of participants)
rebuilt group permission handling (now also right for guest is handled by group permission)

I'm using APCal 2.1.1 on XOOPS 2.5.5, with Firefox (14.0.1).
First, I think this is a great next step after PiCal, ExtCal, etc., so great job!
I'm having several issues though, as follows:
1) When registering a new event, the mini-calendar drop-downs for Beginning Date and Ending Date give this kind of date info in the text field: "12-mm-dd". I have to manually enter those myself, but am unsure if the year is supposed to be yy or yyyy.
2) After filling in the event info, I check "Activate online registration for this event" and click the button - but I get the message "Protector detects attacking actions." Does this module have a problem with Protector?
Thanks for any ideas you might have.

You are not the first one with that issue about the drop-down calendar. Unfortunatly, we are unable to replicate the issue. On our servers, it works correctly with all major browsers.
Can you give us the url to your site to take a look at the issue?
Otherwise, can you give us a screenshot of the issue?
What language do you use?
For the problem with protector. We will take a look at it.

A module is installed in my web site WODNIACY.eu (the last version of module), but I've got a few problems with it too (I wrote about a part of them in your forum). There is a problem with validation too.
In the end of a week I will able to test it once again and write my suggestions.

At the bottom of the pop-up calendar, it says "12-mm-dd". This is when I was mouse-hovering over August 12 in the calendar. When I click, the "12-mm-dd" is transferred into the text box, replacing the "2012-8-11" that is shown there in this screenshot.
I use English.
It would be nice to have news about the relationship with Protector - I can't submit the form in the current condition without getting an error.
Thanks again for your rapid response - a great relief as I've had problems with every Calendar/Event module I've tried and really need to get this functionality going on my site.

I have fixed the jscalendar issue, but can there be a way of adding a small thumbnail of the main event pic to the Upcoming Events Block? I do this for a comedy club, and the addition of the thumbnail in the block would be excellent.
I have been picking away at the /blocks/apcal_coming_schedule.html
I have not found the proper string to path out a value for the default image as well as the START TIME
Can anyone help?
Also, is there any benefit to updating to the most recent APCal?
