wouldnt this be the same as spam?

Dont get me wrong... its xoops, but its also a advertisement. making it spam, sence its not a paid add.

If this is ok then there will be more, and then thats spam, and it would be ok, cause this one is ok.

I believe in our job description we are suppose to be responsible for removing spam on the forums.

I don't believe we have been provided the tools to address news items.

Do you know who is in authority or responsible on that front?

What is the criteria for a news item?

All i know is the CCT has no place in the news, so at this point in time we cant do anything with it, but yell.

Well sorry to disagree, but this site is a XOOPS site, commercial or free it is still a XOOPS site.

YAXS stands for "Yet Another XOOPS Site" therefore it is in the right place. If you do not want to use the service ignore it, If you like the design of the site say it, if you don't like it's design give some suggestions.

If we turn commercial sites into spam sites we will drive them from xoops.

PS. All my sites are commercial in some form or another, would I be spam if I posted here (which I have before).

no problem... there is two webhosting paid links on the sponsored links sidebar, if they don't care neither do I.

Maybe they are not paid... if they are free that is fine with me too.

Now I know that YAKS is advertising space for XOOPS sites.

Im aware of what YAXS stood for.
the point to this was.

adds should be in the header, or on the left under the ( sponcered Links ).
i have no problems with it being a XOOPS site, infect I love the idea of it being a XOOPS site, but non the less, it is a add, and shouldnt be placed in YAXS, if it is in YAXS it should be about how this XOOPS site is a hosting site and how all the pages are, not hosting of 200mb for blah blah blah.

IMHO, this "add" shouldnt be here, sence its encuraging other hosts to place a "free" add in xoops.org, where in the past all hosts had to pay for a "add". and with this come spam.

I agree, its an advert and they should contribute something to XOOPS before being able to get their ad out there.

Before anyone buys their hosting, I highly suggest you review their uptime:

(that averages to 17.5 days of downtime a year)

to me this is spam... they can easily said "our hosting company is using XOOPS for corporate webpage" instead they are promoting their hosting features ( wich sucks anyway.. they are resellers of a reseller )

I agree with jdseymour.

Not only is the site build with Xoops, but they also give extra XOOPS support.

i disagree..

YAXS is for promoting your XOOPS site and providing other people with information of what your website is about and any other information you wish to disclose about what your XOOPS site is about etc.

YAXS is NOT a place for advertising hosting plans. it never was and it shouldn't be now!!

the only thing i agree with here is that it's a XOOPS site.. but that makes no difference whatsoever to the disagreement because this article is NOT discussing a XOOPS site, it is purely an advertisement of a service.

hosting promotions go in the XOOPS HOSTING forum!!!

or has that suddenly been changed too under new management?

not that any1 will probly listen anyway though.. they haven't done so far.
