Hello all!

I publish the new version of the aChat module!

The functionalities are explained on the "README.txt" file.
A summary : Smilies, XoopsCodes, Colors for messages, choose of nickname for anonymous (all parametrable), purge, log files, view logs and archives, management of the rights to send messages ...

For the AJAX, I used a french Javascript Class : XHRConnection.

The archive contains french, english and spanish ( thanks to JAWi Tugal !) languages.

If someone has improves on the english language files for my module, or has other translations, I'm interested! I'll put them here.

Looks quite similar to Shoutbox. Anybody know of any benefits of using this over Shoutbox?

EDIT...
Oops...I should have read the description at the download site first. Looks like a number of improvements over the Shoutbox module...I'll have to try it out.

For update it's the same as with the other modules : upload the new files, and update the module with XOOPS admin.

It has problem with persian language. Maybe UTF-8 encoding.......

I made a modified version mainly for encoding hanlder, db queries and text sanitizing, will send to niluge_kiwi in a couple of days

I've made a new version (0.22) which supports all characters, and corrects some other bugs..

So if you dont want to wait for the phppp version...

THe module works fine, except... I get a blank page when I want to go anywhere else on my site after using the aChat module. PHP debug says, among a bunch of notices, the warning
"xoopsOption[template_main] should be defined before including header.php"
I am running XOOPS 2.0.15.
The english language file is incomplete, at least on the admin side.

If you running protector module propably this is the reason. In my case by temporally disabled solve my problem.

with the latest version Greek (and other encodings) work just fine BUT when i write in Greek achat displays only one part of it (approx 30 characters) something that not happen when i write english for example... any ideas??

You are right gerasimos. The protector module takes it as a dos/crawler attack. You do not have to disable the protector, you can just add the module directory to the list of modules at "Modules out of DoS/Crawler checker".

anyone thought about users to chat with eachother... like gmail chat.

this works really nice I also have the same question, is it possible to chat between two users? something like a button by the username saying 'chat with user' and that creates a chat between the two users (if the second replies at least). I dont know how google chat works, but that would be a great option I think.

I wait the phppp version of aChat, he probably improve lots of things, so problems with encoding will be corrected.

The date and hour of the message is display when you put your mouse on the nickname.

Great chat module, the only problem is bringing others to the chat, to let them know that someone is there.

If it had a user listing block, that showed other users who are logged in and have permission to use the chat, and then a way to page those other users, to tell them that "User A is in chat and invites User B to join", that would be perfect.

This ERROR appears :

I use XOOPS 2.2.6. I install the aChat module, but i face a prob:

When i enter my msg in the textbox, if i simply press enter, the page will reload, but if i click the send button, then the msg will be shown without reloading the page.

what can i do so that the page will not reload? thanks.

It works cool on Firefox, but on Internet Explorer I can't see upcoming mesages, nor the ones I send, I have to refresh the page to see them.
