2) I didn't see a way to change the view to show it events by hourly or 1/2 or 15 min blocks

YES. I am definatly going to make a CaLogic Module for XOOPS. When I saw XOOPS for the first time, I got so excited, I still can hardly sleep. I will publish a news article as soon as the module is ready.

To answer your second question:
If you click on a day number in any view, CaLogic will display the day view, which is a half-hourly view of events.
