For the blogs and all the url, I use the Url Rewriting mod of Apache. It let me create automatically subdomains yes.
For exemple:
http://www.etudiants.bahut.com/forums/ --> http://www.bahut.com/modules/newbb/index.php?name=etudiants
(but you cant acces via the second url, it's just a choice)
